Cornwall has certain days each year where festivals and parties are the toast of the nation. Rivaling Rio de Janeiro, Cornwall's local population know how to enjoy themselves without the need for addictive computer games or heaps of money.

The Eden Project

The Eden Project or Bio-dome, is situated in Austell, Cornwall and just two kilometers from the town of St Blazey.

The project is much more than fantastic botanical gardens, every year music and arts events are also held here. This man made Eco warrior establishment is a major tourist attraction and acts like a magnet for visitors from around the globe.

The whole site is dominated by two huge bio-domes, one for Tropical plants and the other for Mediterranean fauna.

Guided tours are available, although the site allows for freedom virtually wherever you wish to walk. Inside are banana tress, giant bamboo, coffee and rubber plants and all types of plants and trees to open a youngsters eyes.

Around the site statues, play areas, and fun but educational activities are ongoing on a daily basis. Allow a full day for your trip to the Eden Project as there is so much to see and to do.

England is not necessarily known for its fabulous beaches, far from it in most places. But Cornwall is different and beaches are an integral party of any holiday package.

Cornwall has over two hundred beaches.

Many are small and secluded, and some are stony, whilst others are fantastic. The sandy beaches provide ample opportunity for families to spend a few hours soaking up any sun that appears whilst dipping into the tepid water which gently laps onto the beach.

Meandering rivers flow into the sea and this is where many boat races are organised locally. Tourists are welcomed to partake in any of the events that happen every year such as pirates day.

The beautiful beaches are cleaned regularly to ensure safety for a family and romantic walks in the evening just before sunset provide romantic interludes whilst the children are watched by child care services provided by many of the hotels.

Most of Cornwall's hotels used for vacations or holidays are only a stones throw away from one of the local beaches.

The Sea

The sea has always been an attraction for many years. The water around Cornwall provides a wealth of sporting activities for every that are not only fun but also promote health and family bonding.

Canoeing or Kayaking has always brought a smile to children's faces. Race around coves and play bumper boats, land on a beach and bury the mother-in-law up to her neck in sand, leave her there if you wish, dig her up again tomorrow, after all, it is your holiday.

Snorkel with the fish and find large crabs, lobsters and starfish along the sea bed. No need to go out to sea to far, just snorkel around the cove and learn about the local fish.

Scuba Diving is excellent. Scuba divers often come to Cornwall to dive amongst wrecks and practice divers can be seen almost every day in the summer season. Scuba diving lessons can be given to day tourists with a short dive at the end of the lesson.

Surfing is a fun and excellent past time. Surfers flock to Cornwall to partake in contests and strut their stuff on the oceans waves as beach babes stare in fond astonishment. Surfing has really taken off in Britain at a galloping speed.

Wind Surfing is difficult to begin with, but once you get the hang of it there will be no stopping you. This adrenaline junkie sport is very addictive, great fun, and can be enjoyed by even young children

Jet skiing and Water Skiing hire are available along the Cornish coast. Impress your family with you aerial acrobatics whist posing in front of the locals. Jet Skiing is fantastic and up to three people can ride on some of the jet skis at the same time.

Boat charter is an opportunity for some naval haughtiness Take the children out to play at pirates like Captain Hook or Captain Jack Sparrow. Make the mother-in-law walk the plank, and get mum to serve up some vittles.

Hire a boat in Cornwall with a skipper and enjoy some Deep Sea Fishing. Take some drinks and food for an unforgettable sea picnic.

The Land

For landlubbers there is an exciting array of activities awaiting you on you arrival. Parachute Jumping is an adrenaline junkie's dream. Jump out of a perfectly good airplane and plummet towards the Earth at breath taking speeds.

Visit the National Seal Sanctuary or the Blue Reef Aquarium. Try the formidable Pendennis Castle for a truly fairy-tale historic adventure. Many of Cornwall's attractions have indoor and outdoor play areas as you can never rely on the British weather.

There are many beautiful period and listed buildings with spectacular gardens for enjoyable evening walks or to let the kids run around and lose some energy. The nightlife in Cornwall is vibrant, even though the clubs are not up to the massive clubs seen in many major town.

The atmosphere is by no means any less, the locals are friendly and do not bite, unless you ask them to.

Cornwall holidays are waiting to give the most surreal and fantastic vacation for a family that they have ever experienced.
