Dreams and Wolf: Two of the Best Family Resorts

Updated on July 13, 2011

Some of the best beach vacations you can take your family on are at family all inclusive resorts. The best family resorts offer something for everyone, to ensure the kids vacations are as fun as their parents. The best family vacation destinations balance convenience and affordability with your summer or winter fun. For vacations with kids, you can’t go wrong with family resorts.

If Cost is No Object

Sometimes you get what you pay for. The best family resorts can be spendy. Here are some amazing family resorts:

  • Atlantis Resort and Casino
  • Club Med Ixtapa
  • Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • La Costa Resort and Spa

Dreams Beach Resorts

Dreams Resorts offer kid friendly vacations in a tropical vacation setting. Located in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, these resorts feature long, beautiful beaches and luxurious lodging next to the ocean. As Caribbean family resorts go, they are perfect “kids resorts” because they offer many activities for kids and teens. An “Explorer’s Club” caters to children ages 3 to 12 with indoor game areas with movies and games and outdoor play areas with climbing walls and playgrounds. Staff supervise all children and communicate with parents via buzzers that are distributed upon a family’s arrival.

Vacations with kids are one thing. Vacations with teenagers are another. Teens will enjoy the Dreams Teen Centers, which are designed for teens ages 13 to 17. New Teen Centers are set to open in 2010 at new Dreams Resorts in the Caribbean. Each center will operate from 9pm to midnight, and will offer video games, drinks and snacks, sports such as basketball, baseball, archery, and climbing. Dreams Resorts staff will supervise teens and create weekly schedules of exciting activities. Teenagers can also participate in the Core Zone Teens Club, which offers coordinated land and sea excursions, water sports, and nighttime activities.

Great Wolf Lodges

Instead of incurring the expense of air travel, you may be considering cheap summer vacations. Some of the best Midwest vacations are at Great Wolf Lodges. These water parks offer an unbeatable combination, especially in the summer. Great Wolf Lodges offer all the fun of a water park in the convenience of a vacation lodge! You and your family can stay in the lodge, have your meals provided to you, and enjoy all the fun of the lodge’s extensive indoor water park, leaving you lots of time to relax. Your teens can explore all the pools, slides, and a lazy river at their convenience. Great Wolf Lodges are located all over the country, so you can find a location that is convenient for your family.

All Inclusive Resort Family Vacations

All-inlclusive resorts can be a great family vacation option. There's a great freedom in having paid for everything up front. It's nice to have people lining up to entertain you. And when you don't have to put much effort into what you'll do or eat, you can pour more energy into relaxation. The good news is that many all-inclusive resorts now cater to families.

Although this type of resort can be spendy, most all-inclusive resort fees include lodging, food and drink (including alcohol), taxes, tips, non-motorized water sports, organized activities, and children's day programs, and evening entertainment. When you take all this into consideration, you may save money.

High season is generally Christmas through Spring Break. Prices usually drop by April. Off season rates are a good option if you can work around school schedules.
