Marriott Residence Inn at Placentia, California: A Review

The Marriott Residence Inn is located at 700 West Kimberly Ave. in Placentia, California. This hotel is located only 6 miles from the Disney Parks of Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. It's a perfect hotel for a family who may want to stay in the area a few days, and the following review will explain why.

This hotel of 112 suites is an amazing place for travelers to stay for one night, a week, or anywhere in between. Having recently stayed there on a trip to visit relatives and play tourist (Disney's California Adventure) I was pleasantly surprised at all this hotel has to offer.

Location:

Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure Park are 6 miles away.

Angel Stadium is also 6 miles away.

Newport Beach is 20 miles away.

Suites:

The suites provided are clean and neat. They consist of a living area complete with fireplace, a kitchen area that includes a table/computer work desk, and bed, and a bathroom area that consists of a sink and mirror outside the small room that contains the toilet and tub/shower combination. The beauty of this set up is that one person can be in the shower while the other is outside the door putting on makeup or shaving without disturbing each other. The bed is quite comfortable, and we booked a queen sized bed which was perfect for two. The sitting area consists of a couch, and two chairs and a flat screen TV on a pedestal base which can swivel to be watched in the living area or from the bed. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the kitchen area which houses a refrigerator, sink/cupboard area with more than adequate dishes and utensils, stove/oven combination, microwave and a coffee maker. There is free wifi in the suites for all guests.

Registration

The staff at this hotel were quite accommodating. Near the front desk, guests will find a 24 hour market of snacks and cold refrigerated drinks to purchase whenever the mood strikes. There is also a glass case of health and beauty items for guests who forgot to bring certain toiletries along. Also near the front door of the lobby is a computer for people who didn't bring their own. Regular and decaf coffee, as well as hot water and tea bags, are offered here 24 hours per day. When walking on the grounds on the way to the pool or breakfast area, one can always find staff hard at work, but always with a ready smile and kind word.

Breakfast

Free breakfast is included when one books this hotel. The breakfast area has approximately eight tables, and there is also couch seating with s fireplace nearby. The breakfast is more than adequate but not outrageous in its offerings. The breakfast area offers pastries, muffins, bagels and English muffins. There is an area that offers four types of hot foods which included scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage and biscuits and gravy on the days we were there. There is also a waffle maker bar with strawberries and whipped cream available for toppings. For guests interested in healthier options there is a bowl of cut-up fruit, cereals, and yogurt with toppings such as cinnamon and granola to add to your choices. There were two choices of juices and of course coffee and hot water for tea.

Recreation

This hotel has an outdoor pool which is open daily from 8:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. Towels are provided poolside. It also has a tennis court located just behind the pool area. There is a small workout room on the second floor of the hotel above the lobby. There were two treadmills, an elliptical machine, and a weight set. My husband uses a recumbent bike to work out, and since they did not have one, he asked at the desk if there was a gym nearby. He was told there was one right across the street, and that they have a special deal for hotel guests. He was happy with the workout facility and especially happy with the first time being free for hotel guests. Each use after that came with a $10 charge.

Extras

* The hotel has a laundry room consisting of washers and dryers. Laundry detergent and softener sheets can be purchased at the front desk. To wash and dry one load of laundry costs $2.75.

* Pets are allowed at this hotel for an extra charge of $100 per stay.

* All rooms at the hotel are smoke-free.

* Parking is complimentary.

I would give this hotel 4.5 stars out of 5 and only because the rooms have a bit of wear and tear because it is not a brand new facility. But everything else was wonderful.
