Mount Pleasant Pier
The Mount Pleasant Pier is part of the Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. It's just over the Cooper River Bridge from Charleston, South Carolina. Patriots Point is part of the large park area. You can get from the "Pier" to the USS Yorktown without getting on major roads. It's very easy and safe to do by bicycle.
Wonders Way
Wonders Way-Ravenel Bridge-Hwy. 17-Cooper River
By all means ride across the Cooper River from Charleston by way of Wonders Way on your bicycle or you can walk. You can see the USS Yorktown and Patriots Point to the right as you're crossing the beautiful bridge. After crossing the River turn right as you exit the bridge and continue making right turns as you go underneath the bridge and you are now at the Mount Pleasant Pier.
You can drive Highway 17 as well. Stay in the right lane and first chance you get make right turns and you're there by auto. If you cross the bridge and make the first hard right turn and then continue straight ahead you will wind up at Patriots Point and the USS Yorktown.

As you can see you're parking under Wonders Way. This is "pay as you park" so bring some quarters.

The pier at Memorial Waterfront Park is 1,250-foot-long.

The "Pier" seems to be enjoyed by folks of all ages.
There is plenty of seating for dining and getting out of the elements should they arise.
There is an 8,100-square-foot covered pavilion for events was built at the end of the pier. The pier also has bench swings at three additional shade structures.
Bring your camera. You never know what will happen.
Charleston's skyline is beautiful.
Take a lot of shots. The sky will be different. Just hang around!
The Memorial Waterfront Park Pier offers a snack and tackle shop as well as a gift shop.
There is "Pier" fishing beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday and continues until 6 p.m. After which, the pier closes to fishing and becomes a viewing location for the fireworks that begin at 10:05 p.m. from the flight deck of the Yorktown at Patriots Point.
