Visit St Annes-on-Sea,England
St Annes is the Northernmost part of Lytham-St-Annes situated just a few miles South of Blackpool on the Fylde Coast in Lancashire.
A little History
Founded in 1875 St. Annes lies between the large seaside resort of Blackpool to the North and Lytham to the South.
It is a traditional and quiet resort that dates back to the Victorian Era. It is a favorite destination for Golfers with its internationally recognized Links courses.
At its North end is Blackpool airport and the location where Pontin's used to have one of its best camps. The Old links and nature reserve are also located to the North of the Town. Each of these locations have seen changes over the years. Most notably the old Pontin's site that has been earmarked for a new housing development.
The town center has also seen change over the years with a full re-development of the shopping area happening in recent times.
St. Annes Today
St. Annes is a great place to visit for the day if you are on holiday in Blackpool. It is also a great place to stay if you are looking for a quieter resort. It has a great expanse of beach and some lovely Fish and Chips. There are also some great shops to peruse.
Places to Visit
Lytham St Annes Local Nature Reserve
Just South of the Old Holiday Camp site is the Nature Reserve. Situated on the Sand Dunes that are one of the main features at this end of the Fylde Coast.
There are over 280 species of plant across the reserve and the mobile dunes on the coastal side.
St Annes Pier
Opened in 1885 the pier today is just a shadow of its former glory. Its mock Tudor front is very inviting and inside you will fine an arcade and Cafe. Over the years due to damage the seaward end of the pier his shrunk and closed to the public. But due to work being carried out it may be open again.
Ashton Gardens
If you are looking for some real peace then why not visit Ashton Gardens just on the edge of the town center. It is a lovely park with its Rose Garden and rock and Water Garden with a waterfall.
Promenade Gardens
The Promenade Gardens are located just south of the Pier on the South Promenade.
St Annes Miniature Railway
This 10 1/4 inch miniature railway is situated on the South Promenade. There are two different trains running the line. Both with a completely different style.
As well as the Railway there are Trampolines.

There are other great attractions nearby.
Blackpool
Blackpool and its great attractions are just a short drive or bus ride away. You could even walk along the beach from St. Annes to the Stargate Tram Stop which is located just North of the Nature Reserve.
Fairhaven Lake
Situated between St. Annes and Lytham in Fairhaven, Ansdell the coast side salt water lake haslots of great activities on offer.
You could hire a boat or relax on a pleasure cruse on the lake or if you wish to stay on dry land, you could have a game of Bowls. There are activities for Children and Teenagers including a skate park on site.
Lytham
At the Southern most part of the Fylde coast Lytham is home to Lytham Windmill. This is a free Museum that tells the history of Milling and the Lytham area.
