A little History

Founded in 1875 St. Annes lies between the large seaside resort of Blackpool to the North and Lytham to the South.

It is a traditional and quiet resort that dates back to the Victorian Era. It is a favorite destination for Golfers with its internationally recognized Links courses.

At its North end is Blackpool airport and the location where Pontin's used to have one of its best camps. The Old links and nature reserve are also located to the North of the Town. Each of these locations have seen changes over the years. Most notably the old Pontin's site that has been earmarked for a new housing development.

The town center has also seen change over the years with a full re-development of the shopping area happening in recent times.

St. Annes Today

St. Annes is a great place to visit for the day if you are on holiday in Blackpool. It is also a great place to stay if you are looking for a quieter resort. It has a great expanse of beach and some lovely Fish and Chips. There are also some great shops to peruse.

Places to Visit

Just South of the Old Holiday Camp site is the Nature Reserve. Situated on the Sand Dunes that are one of the main features at this end of the Fylde Coast.

There are over 280 species of plant across the reserve and the mobile dunes on the coastal side.

St Annes Pier

Opened in 1885 the pier today is just a shadow of its former glory. Its mock Tudor front is very inviting and inside you will fine an arcade and Cafe. Over the years due to damage the seaward end of the pier his shrunk and closed to the public. But due to work being carried out it may be open again.

Ashton Gardens

If you are looking for some real peace then why not visit Ashton Gardens just on the edge of the town center. It is a lovely park with its Rose Garden and rock and Water Garden with a waterfall.

Promenade Gardens

The Promenade Gardens are located just south of the Pier on the South Promenade.

St Annes Miniature Railway

This 10 1/4 inch miniature railway is situated on the South Promenade. There are two different trains running the line. Both with a completely different style.

As well as the Railway there are Trampolines.
