Summer Getaway - Cordova Home Village
My kids and I have had an agreement. If they do well this school year, we would go to a pool of their choice. If they receive no special recognition, I choose the venue – a nearby hotel wherein we could use their pool for a small fee. They are not so enthusiastic about our usual place because they have been there like a hundred times.
And so, even before the school result, they already provided me a list of their requirements. (I just love their optimistic side.) Here are their qualifications for the pool:
- Must have a water slide.
- Must have a pool for kids.
- Must be a resort that they have not been before.
- Must not be crowded.
At first, I was not that alarmed because unlike them, I was not that optimistic that they would do well this school year. I could still remember the night I had a conversation with my son about his Filipino exam result. To my horror, it was just a measly 30% of the total score. My son, calmly looked at me and said, “My score is far better than my classmates, ‘ma. Don’t worry!” With this thinking in mind, I have concluded that there was no chance for bagging the “Achiever” award this year. Boy have I been wrong.
With a triumphant smirk, my son announced that he made it to rank 7 and that I should keep my end of the bargain. I scoured the internet for a pool that would fit their requirements. Plus, I have to add a requirement of my own because I am a cheapskate mom who can’t cook. Aside from the qualifications above, the resort must be cheap and have a restaurant in which we can just order our meal. Thanks to my lucky stars, (and to a good friend who recommended the place) I found the perfect resort - Cordova Home Village.
Cordova Home Village
According to internet this is located in Sitio Datag Cansubing, Cordova, Mactan Island. I am not good in direction that is why my good friend drove us to the place. However, if you need to commute, you take the Cordova bound PUJ parked in toll fee intersection of Lapulapu. Then you trust the driver to be honest to take you there (provided that you tell him your destination of course).
Entrance Fee is Php 100 for adult and Php 50 for kids (10 years and below or depends upon the size of your kid. My 12 year old niece was just billed for Php 50).
Cottage are priced at Php 400 for small (approximately 10 people) and Php 500 for large (approximately 15 people) or if you wish you can simply get an open table for Php 200.
They also have rooms with cable TV, air conditioner and hot and cold shower for people who want to spend the night. Price range per night (Php 1,400 Studio type, Php 1,800 Standard rooms and Php 3,900 Family rooms)
P.S. - Their food serving is quite large. They even have an all you can eat buffet! If your a big eater or simply want to try different food at an affordable price.
What I love about the place is that you can just stay at their restaurant/bar area so that you won’t have to rent their cottages. There are life guards present as well to oversee your kids.
My kids had a blast that day. Their only complaint was that it was just too far. Both of them fell asleep on our way home. Sleepily they have added the distance requirement for our next summer dip - MUST NOT BE FAR. I don’t even remember I have agreed to a summer dip!
This have a potential to be one of the top Cebu tourist spot that local tourist can enjoy.
