Top Cruise Tips and Tricks For This Summer

Updated on August 26, 2018

It’s the right time to take a vacation and go explore the World but you can easily waste money on unnecessary things if you are not aware of these 10 cruise tips and tricks.

Planning Your Journey In Advance

First of all, you should dedicate some time and do your research on cruises before you buy the tour or the ticket. If you purchase the ticket months earlier it will usually cost you less than booking at the last minute. Sometimes there are exceptions when a day before the departure the prices drop drastically. In this stage of planning also pay attention to the size of the ship you want and all the activities, parties and other events that will be held on the ship.

Stay Connected But Pay Less

Using Wi-Fi or your mobile data on the board will cost you arms and legs; companies charge several times more for the Internet connection during the cruises. The indispensable part of my journey was Zangi Safe Messenger which consumes 6 times less on mobile data than other messaging apps. It helped me to avoid those high charges and to connect my friends and family even with slow Wi-Fi or 2G connection. Thus, before starting your journey, download the most appropriate messaging app.

Get a Travel Insurance

There are doctors and hospitals on the ships but if you ever get sick or have an accident during the cruise you will have to pay large bills. That’s why one of the most important things to do before taking the tour is to get a travel or health insurance. If you don’t do that, at least bring some medications with you because they cost around ten times more in the cruise ship’s shop.

You Can Take More Stuff

You can take way more clothes, shoes and anything you want on board than you are allowed on a plane. Cruise lines don’t usually have strict baggage rules and you can even bring some food and alcohol with you. Yet, it is better to pack light because there is not so much space to keep your belongings in tiny cabins.

Enjoy Free Room Service

You should know that the room service on the board is usually free. You can ask the delivery person to come to your room whenever you need something (except the night) and tip them if you want to. Also, you can also ask your room steward to empty the mini-bar in your room where you can keep the food and the drinks you brought with you.

You Can Bring Drinks On Board

Yes, usually one or two bottles of wine or champagne are allowed but you should check it with the company before the departure. If you want to save on the drinks you can buy the “all you can drink” packages and have almost unlimited drinks throughout the day.

There Are Limited Outlets

If you take all your gadgets with you, you will need sockets to keep them charged. The problem is that there are not enough outlets in the cabins, especially on the old ships. You can take an adapter with you or ask for an additional one from your cabin steward.

You Can Get On The Ship Faster

Do you want more cruise tips to help you with your journey? You should know there is a way to get checked-in in 10-15 minutes without dealing with those long lines. People usually rush to the boarding window right when it opens which leads to long lines. If you show up an hour before the boarding window closes you will save your precious time.

Follow these tips to make your trip more enjoyable and save on mobile data and other useless expenses. The most important is to try to relax and have the best time of your life.
