Top 10 Zoos in USA for Kids - Part I

Parents Magazine has set out to find the top zoo's in USA for kids in 2009. They surveyed them to find out things like how many of the exhibits were at a preschooler's eye level, what kids could touch, and whether there were changing tables and stroller rentals. The upshot: Many zoos have built more interactive exhibits for young children and made their paths more stroller-friendly. Now the "Top 10 Zoo's in Usa for Kids" are revealed. Now no need worry about where to take the Kids during vacation.

1. Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo, Florida

Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo is today ranked the number-one family-friendly zoo in the U.S. Wallaroo Station Of the zoo is Australian-themed children's area. kids can brush a goat's fur, feed birdseed lollipops to parakeets, and walk down a path as kangaroos and wallabies hop in front of them. Kids can also ride on a llama or in another part of the zoo, a camel. Lowry Park is the only zoo in the country with an accredited preschool and kindergarten on-site. When your little kids need a break from the animal action, you can head to the playground or any of the five rides including a kiddie coaster. 2. Brookfield Zoo, Illinois

Brookfield Zoo is located in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The zoo is known for its extensive use of open-air and unbarred enclosures. The zoo features Italian provincial buildings and formal malls. Special attractions include the dolphin shows in the Seven Seas exhibit. Brookfield was the first inland zoo to build a dolphinarium, a children’s zoo, and Tropic World. It is a Hamill Family Play Zoo with most awesome exhibit for kids. Inside a hollowed-out tree, kids can dress up in animal and zookeeper costumes, make an art project, get their face painted, and pet a hedgehog, an armadillo, and other wildlife. This zoo is rated 2nd in Top 10 Zoo's in USA for kids.

3. St. Louis Zoo, Missouri

St.louis Zoo is the third-largest zoo and ranked 3rd in Top 10 Zoo's in USA for Kids. The Zoo with its 90 acres of space and 700 species of animals on exhibit, this place is a must-see on a family vacation to St. Louis. The zoo is open year-round with free general admission. Some areas, however, do require a small fee, including the sea lion shows, the new insectarium and the children's zoo, where kids can pet the animals. Other areas include the big cat country, the jungle of the apes, the primate house, the river's edge (an elephant exhibit) and feeding areas for bears and sea lions. 4. Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, Pennsylvania

The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium . It is located five miles east of downtown Pittsburgh. The Zoo is a 77-acre facility that is home to thousands of animals representing hundreds of diverse species. The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is one of only six major zoo and aquarium combinations in the country and ranks 4th in Top Zoo's for kids. Kids Kingdom is the place where kids learn what it's like to be an animal by acting like one. Kids can Walk through goat and deer yards, a sea lion pool and in a netted bird enclosure. Save time to see the two-story shark tank in the aquarium and the Water's Edge exhibit, where children can walk down a 30-foot tunnel with polar bears swimming above and around them.

5. Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, Indiana

This park is specially designed for little ones. Near the entrance is Indiana Family Farm, where children can peek into the chicken coop, brush the goats, and pump water into a trough. The 20-foot-high tree house in the Indonesian Rain Forest has an entrance that only small kids can fit through. The new African Journey opens on June 6, in that there will be child-size caves, close encounters with lions, and a chance for families to feed the giraffes. This zoo scores the 5th rank in Top 10 zoo's in USA for kids.
