Vegas Thrills: the Fremont St. Experience
The Fremont St. Experience is a live and energetic attraction in down town Las Vegas, NV. The attraction itself is a crescent shaped canopy about 90 feet high that stretches down the four blocks of tourist shopping, cassinos, food vendors and music stages. This canopy houses millions of led lights that are used to preform nightly light shows dubbed "Viva Vision".
From a local's point of view, some of the most inexpensive fun can be had on Fremont St. From free live entertainment to alcohol, gambling and the rest of the Vegas traditions, The Fremont St. Experience is sure to show everyone an unforgeable time (supposing that your not overly intoxicated).
Eating and Shopping
Down Fremont you can find anything to eat from t bone steaks and prime rib at your favorite casino, to a Big Mac from Macdonald's. Not to mention the endless supply of alcohol. Its Vegas, if you want it, they've got it.
Most of the shopping to be done on Fremont St. is in Las Vegas novelty shops that sell all sorts of Vegas gifts and treasures. I tend to stay away from these stores personally because im a local and have little use for anything their selling, however if you come from out of state, these shops have plenty of keep sakes and memorabilia that you can bring home to your family and friends.
Light Shows
Every evening the gigantic canopy houses brilliant light shows (usually featuring music) that last about ten minutes each. When the show starts, all of the casino lights turn off directing attention to the canopy where "Viva Vision" begins. These light shows have featured musicians such as Kiss, Queen, Don Mclean and my personal favorite, The Doors. "Viva Vision" starts at the top of the hour every hour from 7pm to 12am.
Music Stages
The several music stages along the Fremont St are one of my favorite parts of the experience. These shows are usually free and for the most part feature cover bands that pay tribute to range of genres including anything from country to heavy metal. Their are no admission fees, no tickets to by, you just walk up and sing along to all of your favorite classic songs. Then when you want to resume your night, you can simply walk away off to the next stage if thats what you desire. Occasionally famous celebrities will play on these stages. This is a rare occurrence, but if you come on the right night you might get lucky.
The People
The night life on Fremont St. is like that of the rest of Las Vegas, alive and restless. People from all over the world visit Fremont and I'd say a rough half of them are intoxicated, so theres always something humorous waiting right around the corner. I've been to the Fremont st. Experience hundreds of times and i'm always amazed at the comedy involved in people watching. In addition to all of the wild people, you will find dozens of impersonators ranging from such characters as Elvis to Capitan Jack Sparrow. If you wish to take a snapshot with one of these characters, don't forget to give them a quick buck as thats their way of making a living.
Vegas at its finest
The Fremont St Experience is the original centerpiece of Las Vegas nightlife. Although most attention revolves around the Las Vegas strip, i strongly suggest that on your next visit to Vegas you stop by Fremont Street to check out all of the commotion. The original can't be beat in this energetic, lively night venue.
