Five Insiders Tips to the Magic Kingdom

Updated on April 14, 2019

On this Hub, I’m going to give you five secrets that we use here in Disney Guest Services to help guests make the most out of their day at the Magic Kingdom. Remember these tips, and you will save yourself time and money on your trip, as well as be able to see everything you came to see.

No Right Turn

Most people, when they enter the Magic Kingdom, rush up Main Street and then turn right and head towards Tomorrowland. In fact, with the landscaping, and shape of the paths as they were laid out, this is the flow that the designers wanted: a counter-clockwise movement from Tomorrowland to Adventureland. If you go the opposite way, you’ll be able to hit rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Jungle Cruise and Big Thunder Mountain without the huge crowds.

Avoid The Drink/Snack Carts

I know it’s tempting to hit up those refreshing looking drink/snack carts, I mean hey, who wouldn’t want to walk around with a huge turkey leg? The problem is, even a few drinks for the family can turn into a $20 + visit if you’re not careful. You best bet is to buy a large bottle of water when you first get to the park, and then keep it refilled from the water fountains during the day.

Shop On The Way Out

I know it’s hard to say no when your little one falls in love with a stuffed toy first thing in the morning, but avoid the temptation. I can’t tell you how many stuffed animals there are in lost and found at the moment that still have the price tags on them. Anything you have to carry around all day, is just one more thing that you have the opportunity to lose. Shopping on the way out will make things so much easier. The only exception to this is if you are staying at an official Disney World Hotel, then you can have anything you buy sent straight back to your room, no need to carry it around all day.

Look Into Tour Packages

One of my jobs at guest services is to run the VIP Tours from time to time. These guided tours are, without exception, the most amazing experience anyone can have at Disney World. Aside from the VIP Tours conducted by guest services, there are all sorts of other tours available, covering everything from Pirates, to Ghosts, to Animals. Call 407-W-DISNEY to speak to a Disney World Resort Vacation Planner for prices and more information.

Have Fun!

I can’t stress this part enough. It never ceases to amaze me how many people come to the Walt Disney World Resort, and end up getting more stressed once they get here. Relax and have fun. If you need anything at all, all you need to do is ask any cast member you see. If they can’t help, they will know exactly who can, and in most cases, they’ll just call us here at guest services. I assure you, when it comes to making things run smoothly in the parks, there is nothing we can’t do. Remember, you’re at Disney World, the impossible and magical is what we do everyday.

Come Be Part Of Our World

A trip to Disney World is a one-in-a-lifetime experience, no matter how many times you visit. Your vacation is a time to enjoy yourself and, to make memories that last a lifetime. We’ll handle the magic, all you need to do is enjoy.
