Visiting South Dakota
Sharing Pics and the Experiences from the Black Hills, SD
South Dakota is one of my favorite places to visit, and I plan on living there hopefully one day in the future. I have traveled all over the US and Canada, and South Dakota is still my favorite place to visit. I visited South Dakota a few weeks ago due to having to evacuate the Waldo Canyon fire here in Colorado. I decided if I was going to have to leave my home I was going to enjoy the time away.
History of South Dakota
When you visit The Black Hills in South Dakota you can learn a lot about the history of South Dakota, and the United States. Being from the South I love to learn about history, and there is a lot of great history in the state of South Dakota. Custer is my favorite town to visit, and of course you know who the town was named after don't you? General Custer himself. If you love history, you have to visit South Dakota.

Tent Camping is the BEST!
South Dakota offers a variety of places to tent camp for families and individuals that want to camp off of the beaten path. If you are planning on camping, you will need the supplies.
Hiking in South Dakota
South Dakota offers a variety of things for everyone to do, and hiking is no exception. There are a variety of hiking trails to walk, and all of them have offer scenery that is unimaginable. Taking the time to hike the trails is a must to truly enjoy what South Dakota has to offer. One trail I highly recommend it the trail to Harney Peak. There are also numerous other trails that will give you a great South Dakota experience.
The Black Hills Animals
One of my favorite roads to travel when i visit South Dakota is The Wildlife Loop. Even though I live in The Rocky Mountains, I still see more wildlife in the few miles of the Wildlife Loop than I do at home. There are herds of Buffalo, elk, antelope, donkeys and more on the loop. I remember traveling this location in South Dakota when I was six years old, and it is still a place that I have to visit each time I go there.
Byways of The Black Hills
Riding on Needles Highway and Iron Mountain Road has so great rock formations, tunnels bridges, and other great things to look at. I usually start my day on needles highway, go through the wildlife loop, jump on Iron Mountain Road, then end my day at Mount Rushmore. If you have never traveled these roads, you may want to take a couple of days so that you can experience it all to the fullest.
Sylvan Lake
Sylvan Lake is the filming location of one of my favorite movies, National Treasure 2. I have to say it is one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen. If you make it to South Dakota you should make this and the wildlife loop a visit.

The Hole in the Mountain on Needles Highway
This hole has no purpose at all as far as I can tell, but it is amazing to look at.
Wonderful Memories in South Dakota
I have been traveling to South Dakota for as long as I can remember. The most memorable trips were with my amazing sister. We lost her to long term illnesses in October of 2014. Even though she is gone, her three kids, my mom and I talk about our great trips to South Dakota and other places around the US and Canada. I have loved visiting South Dakota most of my life, and now it is even more special to me and my family.
