Catherine (Povloski) Welborn is an artist and writer who has lived in northwest Florida since 1981. She learned much about art and literature through the Public Broadcast System (PBS). As a child, she painted happy little trees with the Bob Ross show and created stories inspired by Reading Rainbow and the After School Special. Her poetry began to appear in anthologies and compilations in 1989. Most of these endeavors were the result of writing competitions juried by such institutions as the Poetry Guild and National Library of Poetry.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, she has had many opportunities to travel, work and live abroad. Her journeys have taken her to several countries including Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, and Kenya where she continued to write and create. She returned to Florida in 2000 where Visual Art became her primary creative outlet.
Catherine currently holds an Associates degree in the Visual Arts program at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, Florida. She intends to achieve a Bachelor's degree in Literature as well as a Master's of Fine Arts degree. Catherine works in a variety of mediums and currently enjoys writing about lifestyle, arts, cooking and poetry.
