The new Hubber Score is out!

Hubber Score Changes

The Changes are Here

In case you didn't catch Marina's recent announcement, some big changes to Hubber Score have been released, and are now live. If your score has undergone a dramatic increase or decrease in the past week, the revamped Hubber Score is the reason. With the new score, traffic has been deemphasized, spammy elementshave been penalized, and reader interaction and satisfaction has been emphasized. Many Hubbers' scores have increased or seen minimal changes, but if your score has decreased significantly with this last update, here are a few things you can do:

  1. Fix up your high traffic Hubs. Reader satisfaction is a significant factor that plays into your Hubber Score, so improving reader satisfaction on your highest traffic Hubs will have the biggest impact on your overall score, because those Hubs see the most readers.
  2. Carefully review all of your Hubs for spammy elements. These could be bringing down your score significantly.
  3. Keep in mind that your score may be better than you realize. A Hubber Score in the 80s is well above average (in the 93rd percentile, in fact). Check out Marina's Forum post for the full distribution.

HubPages Switches to Custom Google Search

Last week we also announced the switch to Google Custom Search. We know the HubPages internal Search feature didn't always work as intended, and the results provided by Google Custom Search should be more relevant and higher-quality, which will benefit both Hubbers and visitors to the site.

For now, you also have the option of using the old Search instead. Simply click the "Old Search" button at the top of your results after performing a search to access it.
