Using Video Links in Articles

Adding videos is a great way to include a visual element in your articles. Using video links is especially important if your article has anything to do with music or a complex topic that would benefit from an oral explanation.

The proof is in the pudding that videos help bring and retain readers to your articles!

According to Research by Attivio:

  • Videos attract 300% more traffic.
  • Videos can double the time visitors spend on a website.
  • Videos will typically increase website page views by 63%.

How to Add Video Links:

  1. Search for a video that relates to your article on YouTube or Vimeo.
  2. Once you find a high-quality video, head over to your article and click on the dropdown "Add content capsules" on the right-side toolbar.
  3. Here you'll find the video capsule under the supplementary category.
  4. Simply copy and paste the video link and paste it into the URL section.
  5. Don't worry about adding a capsule header to the video! Only put a title if the video needs any type of explanation.
  6. Click save, and your video should appear!

One important thing to note is that sometimes videos on YouTube will be deleted for various reasons. If the video is deleted, the video capsule will appear as a "broken link," and you'll need to replace it. Just keep an eye out and check your video link sporadically.

Billboard's Top Holiday Tunes

Speaking of videos and music, whether you'd like to admit it or not, everyone has one or two songs that are on repeat during the Holiday season. Sometimes it seems that you can't escape these tunes since they dominate the radio and basically every store during the month of December.

After some research, we found that Billboard compiled a chart-toppers Holiday addition, and the results for the most popular songs are in!

The Most Played Holiday Songs as of 12/15:

  1. "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey
  2. "Rocking Around The Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee
  3. "A Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives
  4. "Jingle Bell Rock" by Bobby Helms
  5. "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by Andy Williams
  6. "Last Christmas" by Wham!
  7. "Feliz Navidad" by José Feliciano
  8. "Sleigh Ride" by The Ronettes
  9. "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!" by Dean Martin
  10. "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole

From looking at this list, it seems like people are still gravitating towards the timeless classics. The remixes don't stand a chance!

Is your favorite on the list?
