Machu Picchu was a 15th Century A.D. site in the high Andes of Peru, making it many centuries newer than most all of the pyramids in Egypt, which were ancient and decaying centuries B.C. Those original Egyptian (not reproductions by modern humans) pyramids that are still standing, then, are far older than the city of Machu Picchu.
For example, the Great Pyramid of Giza was completed around 2500 B.C. if I remember correctly, and its two huge companion pyramids were relatively contemporary to it.
