Yes, many. They are incredibly hard work and rewarding from a perspective of personal fulfillment. It is a subject that I enjoy writing on and welcome any questions on which I can assist.

Why did you ask the question? Are you wanting to start something? Best of luck...

Hey Flash, first decision should be what business you want to own... what do you want to do for a living and do you have a passion for it? If you do, you'll find a way to make it work. There are lots of people here to help...

Thank you grumpiornot.  I would like to start a business where fantasy, fairy tale creators, magician and vendors have a year round entertainment center full of excitement.  Hope that made sense.

Flashmakeit there are many hubbers who consider what they do here a business. There are also some of us who have businesses running both online and off. I personally know people who earn enough from hub pages to be considered in a full time Business.

I personally have started one corporation and three companies two of which are still open for business. From personal experience I would say you have to be highly motivated to make anything work. No matter what you do; be prepared to think, learn, and plan.

If you can't do your own books make sure you can afford an accountant. Make sure either you know or be prepared to pay a tax planner.  You can and should run your business at a loss for the first two years at least.

Yes, I have been self employed in my own business since 1971.  And I also have a small business online.  My expertise is drywall and plaster repair.  (see my hubs).  My wife and I raised five children on my earnings.  Working for yourself is great.

I have for just over two years. I am not going to make millions but I am happy and working from home works for me and my family very much. I write on hubpages and also elsewhere online and magazines, have a spiritual and metaphysical online shop and am an artist, mainly jewellery design these days. I only work part time as I am also studying part time.
