10 Hubpages Money Making Tips

Over 3 years ago when I first signed up to Hubpages, the idea that I could make money from my writing was the furthest thing from my mind.

I joined Hubpages simply because I love to write and Hubpages was a website that was easy to use and gave the writer an instant readership.

I wrote Hub after Hub after Hub and my stats grew and grew and grew and three months into my new writing hobby I became a paid author, someone had clicked on one of my Google ads and I had earned the wholesome sum of 11cents.

I continued to write more hubs and six months after my first click I received a cheque from Google for just over $100.00.

Around three months later I received my second $100.00+ cheque

Experiments

My Hubpage Experiments

When I realised that I was making some extra money from something that I loved doing, I began to experiment with my writing to try to find the type of Hubs that would make me some extra income.

I began to wrIte product reviews, destination guides for holidays, hotel reviews and many other topics that would either make money or not, as the case turned out to be for most of the time.

My earnings from Hubpages began to grow slowly and steadily and they continue to grow to this day.

At the time of writing this article My current earnings from Google are around $400 every month.

I also receive earnings from Ebay and Amazon taking my monthly total to almost $500, I could possibly make more money from Kontera but ever since i disabled their ads on my hubs I have seen enough of an increase in my Google ads to more than make up for what I used to make from them.

In my quest to find Hubs that I could possibly make money from I have made a lot of mistakes, but I have learned so much from my mistakes that I can avoid doing the same thing in the future.

I will probably keep making mistakes and learning from them for as long as I write here

Follow the money

Ten Tips to Better Hubpages Earning

1) Patience is a virtue

If you have joined Hubpages to make a quick killing then you will be disapointed, it takes time to build your reputation as a writer and for the clicks to come on your advertising.

2) Experiment for you

Experiment with different types of hubs find the hubs that earn for you, I could list the hubs here that I make money from but as I have found in the past What works for me may not work the same for you.

Remember it costs you nothing to write on Hubpages so you have nothing to lose if you get it wrong.

3) Get yourself a blog

A blog is a useful tool to anyone writing on the Internet, a blog gives you a place where you can put links to your hubs, which gives your hubs a free backlink increasing your chances of being picked up by the search engines.

4) Join in the Hub Forums

The Hubpages forums are very active and many of your questions will be answered by the friendly community who when not writing hubs spend a lot of time there, the forums are a great resource of learning and honest opinions of your hubs.

5) Hub Score

Do not place too much emphasis on your Hub Score, what really matters is that you are getting hits from the search engines, I have a Hub where the score fluctuates from 75 -95 from week to week and it is my most visited hub ever, with over a quarter of a million hits.

6) Have Fun

Enjoy your writing and have fun with it write about things that you know about and care about, If you don't like the topic that you are writing about then don't continue to write it because it will show through in the way you have written the article and the reader will know that your heart really wasn't in it.

7) Write more than one Hub on a Topic

Writing two or three Hubs on the same topic, I have found to be a good Idea especially if you link them to each other search engines pick up on the fact that you have written a series of hubs and they give you some search love helping to improve your standing for future Hubs.

8) It's Christmas!

Write a Hub about Christmas and it will get a lot of visitors at that time of year, the same applies to any seasonal Hub that you write about, Halloween, Easter, Mothers day and so on. write a Hub about general topic such as Hobbies or products and you will get visitors all year round.

If you write seasonal hubs try to cover all of the Holidays that way when one holiday is over like Christmas your next one is there to get the hits that you are losing such as Valentine's Day.

9) Look listen and Learn

It may sound silly but look and listen to the people around you, what is the topic of their conversation? people talk about a lot of things everyday and by listening to what they are saying to you you could find the topic for your next hub, some of my better earning hubs have been written from overhearing conversations about the next big thing.

10) An important lesson that I learned

Adding links to external websites can seriously damage your earning potential.

Google places links on your Hubs which are relevant to your topic when people click on those links to those external websites Google pay you.

When people click on links that you add you dont get paid!!!

You can link to your own Hubs though because the reader may click on your ads there.
