HubPages 30-day Challenge 2 — Making Money with Google AdSense AND the HubPages AD Program in Only 30 days

Updated on June 14, 2012

The HubPages Ad Program

A while back, I decided to embark on a 30-day HubPages challenge. This is, of course, writing here on HubPages and getting results in only 30 days. Back then I wrote around 1 to 2 articles a day and got decent results. Now I got inspired to do another challenge because I just joined the HubPages Ad Program.

So all this time that I've been blogging here and making money online, I've only been using Google AdSense alone. I have been using the Amazon affiliate program as well but that doesn't really give me any income. So all the articles I wrote here on HubPages earned me money simply through placement of Google AdSense.

The HubPages Ad program is an advertising program here in HubPages that is seperate from Google AdSense, Amazon, Ebay and all other affiliate programs allowed here in HubPages. It's the one that is owned solely by HubPages. And you know the stupid and petty reason I never joined it? It's because I didn't have a PayPal account.

I can't believe I never joined it. It's not as if my earnings would have disappeared anyway. The reason I didn't have a PayPal account was because I didn't have a credit card of my own. I didn't know that you can create a PayPal account even without a credit card and just have your money stored there until I get a bank account and credit card.

The reason I got inspired to start another 30-day challenge is because when I opened up my earnings tab here on HubPages it already had 4 dollars! I know it doesn't sound much but I joined like a week ago or so. I'm so frustrated about all the earnings I could have had if only I joined the program much earlier. But no use crying over spilled milk. Instead, I will just keep on writing.

Not to mention that the HubPages Ad program threshold for payments is only 50 dollars unlike the Google AdSense threshold of 100 dollars. This means that money will be coming in much faster. This will really be a big help with my earnings.

Focus on Keywords

This time I'll really be focusing on keywords. I'm planning to finish all set of suggested phrases for any given keyword I decide to write about. Personally, I prefer the keyword tool in SEObook.com since this has always been what I've been using since I got trained in blogging and SEO.

I'm also planning to go to car dealerships for some of their brochures. If you remember, I got around 1000 hits a month for just one article with keywords focused on "Honda Cars 2011 price list promo" or something like that. This is one secret of getting higher traffic in your blogs.

I'm not really trained on the science of search engine optimization per se. This is something that I've explained in my article about the Google Online Marketing Contest. My techniques are more of the unusual and out-of-the-box type. Many times I'm not even sure if my unconventional methods really do work. But what is for sure is that I've been getting the results and more importantly the revenue. I am getting an average of around 40,000 hits a month so it's not really that bad and if the trend continues, I'll be getting some more.

I should also focus on the deliveries. This is really something that people search for. And writing about local deliveries is really so easy. There's so much opportunities because there's very little competition online when it comes to content. Most of the official websites of the fastfood chains couldn't care less about SEO (some even use Flash which of course can't really be read by the search engines). My articles on Shakeys Delivery and Jollibee Delivery get an unbelievable amount of traffic (and since I've seamlessly backlinked them in that sentence, they'll become even more powerful).

I'm also thinking about getting a Filipino cook book. There's also very little competition online when it comes to Filipino recipes (especially the really unique and obscure ones) but surprisingly still get a lot of hits. For example, my articles on Vigan Bagnet or Gotong Batangas are ranking on the first page of Google search results.

Also, as long as I write about anything, as in anything at all, it will be contributing to my earnings. But of course it will be nice to focus on keywords so that my energy isn't wasted on articles that will only add a few hits to my traffic.

HubPages 30-day Challenge

At the end of the 30-day challenge, I will be blogging about the results, like some sort of report of how it all went. I'm really excited about the HubPages Ad Program and I can't believe that I just joined it very recently.

It's not that hard to make some extra and passive income just by writing random things here on HubPages. Maybe I should write more on tutorials on how to get started on some tips and tricks of my own on attracting a lot of traffic and revenue in your blog. Yes, that will surely be a topic I'll be writing about and will be included in this 30-day challenge.

For those who are already writing here on HubPages, you should try your own 30-day challenge as well. It's really very motivating knowing that you have a target and that it will be adding to your traffic and income. Good luck to us!
