The Prestigious Lollipop Award #7 on HubPages. . .goes to . . . ImKarn23!

Don't you feel all warm-fuzzy when someone takes time from a busy, important schedule to spread some glow and sugar on an otherwise sometimes tedious world OR on his own corner of the world of Hubpages? Well, that is what our Chris in Hawaii did when he instituted the "Unofficial HubPages Lollipop Award" for special Hubbers chosen and awarded by current holders of the prestigious award!

The Lollipop Parade!

We've 6 Lollipop Awards so far

  1. billybuc
  2. lrc7815
  3. rcrumple
  4. marcoujor
  5. martiecoetser
  6. Nellieanna (th-th-that's moi)

Lollipops And Roses - Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass

The person receiving the Lolipop Award is someone who epitomizes all that is good about unique Hubpages experience and membership, someone who is an active participant, a giver, a sharer ; someone who fills his or her spot on Hubpages meaningfully and fully; someone who simply is not a taker because that's not his/her nature.

It's a fun award, though; - not a big-ole-serious-ponderous thing! It's meant always to exemplify the joy and fun of being here among fellow writers of every ilk, sharing the spirit of mutual respect, support and delight upon which Hubpages is built.

Thinking of many outstanding folks among my circle of special Hubbers who deserve it, selecting just one was NOT so easy! Found myself wishing I could award a canister of lollipops! Remember when the 'corner store' always had a big glass canister filled with colorful lollipops sitting on the counter? Often the store-owner would slip a 'free' one to a kid who was there with a parent shopping, or even there alone trying to choose how to spend a sticky penny or nickel? What fun to be 'awarded' one of those lollipops!

I'm thinking that there's something VERY special about the #7. Seems a magical number. So it's only fitting that Lollipop Awardee #7 must be someONE who is especially magical. OH, yes. . . . that, she is!

On The Good Ship Lollipop -Shirley Temple

Our #7 is as sophisticated in her awareness as she is childlike in her idealism and sense of wonder! If she traveled the 7 seas in the good ship Lollipop, she would not exhaust her ability to be ever entranced by the beauty of faraway places, but horrified at desperation of the downtrodden. Her passion and strength: - that she truly sees possibilities for helping those to whom help has been denied and for bringing hope where there is hopelessness, starting where she is, wielding the power of words.

This person is someone with more verve in her little finger than most folks have in their whole being most of the time!

She's vital, vivacious, energetic, passionate, perky, spicy. . . Did I mention enthusiastic? There's nary a just cause she won't address directly and cleanly-with-no-hum-hawing, to bring it to our attention. Her passion for justice is unexcelled and unrelenting.

Her quick wit and wry humor, likewise! Being rather uninhibited by stuffy rules (understatement alert!), - she jumps on a subject like a mermaid riding a dolphin and steers it to its destination, whether it's our consciousness, consciences, or funny-bones.

She's oblivious to nay-sayers as she carries her causes home. I wonder at times if she wakes up in high gear! But never mind that; - she's always in high gear and in her driver's seat when she's writing and intermingling with her fellow writers here and wherever we cross paths!

She's as cute as a lollipop, too. People love her for all her qualities - brightness, fearlessness, conviction, fun-loving joy of living - and she's gorgeous, besides.

It' s been my pleasure to know her ever since I had the opportunity to 'test her metal' and find that she's as true-blue through and through under an occasionally rambunctious exterior as anyone I've met here in Hubpages. I'm not alone in that opinion. She is beloved and admired by many!

Maybe you'd expected announcement of who she is by now, as if you couldn't have aready guessed, just from her description!

But I'll spare you further suspense or speculation! Of course. . . .

this extraordinary new Lollipop Awardee is none-other-than the brave, the beautiful ~

↔← Leslie Silverman →↔

While I'm at it ~♥~ Happy Valentine's Day, everybody!!

Candyman - Christina Aquilera

Enjoy your well-deserved award, Leslie! And pass it on to the next Lollipop!

But, Orville

"Will it fly?"

They'll ask!

What shall

We tell them,

HI, Izzy - Thank you for being our first visitor for this auspicious awarding! There's something really great about being awarded an honor by one's peers and when being narrowed down & given by just one of them, it's a deeply personal honor as well; then for it to be backed and applauded by many others - well, it's something special!

So many of us love and like Leslie, but she doesn't always get the full measure of recognition to which she's obviously entitled! So it's my great pleasure to be able to award her this fun token of my own regard! I'm pleased you agree that my description of her is accurate with your own! All of your comment further attests it!

I agree also that the Lollipop Award itself deserves to be honored & kept up and going.

As the hub categories chosen by my predecessors and me announce,- it's about honoring Favorite Hubbers & Spreading HubLove. I really like being a part of that!!

These Lollipop awards can be as frequently bestowed as the current awardee - (& those on down the line) - can and care to do them! Thought in selecting the person & assembling the hub is required, but what a labor of love it is! Key things are choosing someone and then honoring him or her with deserved recognition & HubLove to share with our colleagues. :-) No self-serving rewards involved and no hard-&-fast guides apply, other than following the award's spirit which Chris laid out in selecting Billy Buc as the first, which has kept it alive & thriving with each succeeding passing of the "Pop"! It's been my honor to be a part of that, thanks to my beloved Cyber-Daughter, Martie! So much worthwhile fun in getting it and giving it!

Dear Fath - Aw - thank you, dear sweet person. This is all about 'sweets'! :-) Like kids in a candy shop, as they say and we all deserve occasional treats for our sweet tooths!

So who can be sweeter than our Leslie, with her heart the size of North America! A fitting choice to kick off the Valentine month. You're so right that she's unique and raises the spirits of her many fans and friends here on HP - and the bar of writing excellence!

DrBJ - you surely won't be disappointed, dear lady, when you visit Leslie and see her demonstrating what she's all about! Thank you for visiting her Lollipop Award!

I'm amused with the 'eulogy-like' compliment. Your ability to zero in on just-right adjectives is renowned; but in this case, the one who was praised is definitely fully alive, so any miscue can only be solely laid at the feet of the quasi-eulogist. (Just couldn't not acknowledge it and smile about it! ;-)

Yep, Jim - she's all of that. She's unafraid of controversy and is always civilized- and effective -in hers. I certainly appreciate your valued visiting of my work each time; and I know Leslie must appreciate it when you visit hers, too!

Thanks right now for this visit! - Sort of to both op us on this important award occasion.

And - - there you go with some perfect descriptive adjectives which I missed! Thank you!

Oh yes, she's a sassy wench at times and always seems a lively handful of full personhood!

She'll wears her honor proudly, if I'm any judge, and will pass it on with perception!

Thank you for the visit, dear Maria!!

HOORAY! This was such a joy to read. It made me positively giddy! Great song choices too, wow! What a wonderful choice too. I commend you for going there and picking a Lady that can ruffle a few feathers at times, to say the least. Leslie is such a doll. You got her just right!

Leslie is everything described in this hub and more. She is not afraid to throw her work out there, and she does the same for others. Seeing her do this has encouraged me to share more. I also credit Leslie for gettingmebackin touch with my spunky side. That side that is going to say what is right and say what I feel without being ashamed or apologetic. She has been so amazingly supportive of me. I am so honored to call her a friend. CONGRATS on this award sista!

In all seriousness - (SERIOUSLY) - this brought tears to my eyes..

Dear Cyber Daughter, Martie! Glad to see you visiting and approving my choice. Your presentation to me, was, as I mentioned in a prior reply, hard to follow! So just did the bestest I could and had such an excellent subject on which to focus it! :-)

The songs were fun, too. I had some vocal renditions of "Lollipops and Roses" in tow, but the Herb Alpert trumpet version (which I always loved) announced & fit our Leslie better, having much more pizzazz, fire, fizz & action! Thank you for naming me so I could be a link in the wondrous lollichain! Hugs.

Thank YOU, Dana, for your great vote of confidence in my choice!

BTW - something I've learned in all these years is that ANYONE can & WILL ruffle some feathers sometimes - - just by being here! It's true.

But one learns to leave the other feathers to their own birds to tend, and to be gentle with 'em, since they're probably the ones who need it. After all anyone can turn into the 'ruffled' at odd times, oneself. Then it's our own thing to tend. Humans are just like that, - sensitive creatures, though sometimes without the 'sense' in it. It all goes-with the territory, which can be pretty lovely when we get all unruffled. :-)

I'm glad to hear that you're more or back in touch with your spunky side. I'm not surprised that Leslie had a hand in it. My theory is that our true selves are always 'in-there' in us, but just sometimes get obscured by stuff. So we must peel off the stuff & let the sunshine in. No need to be ashamed or apologetic for being oneself, as if there were anyone else to honestly BE, - unless one is acting in ways to hurt others, - which is probably not really being one's true self anyway - but still the one with junk piled on it.

No doubt you've given Leslie as much in the exchange, too! What are sistas for, if not that mutual support? I'm really happy to hear it.

Nellie, excellent choice! Leslie is the cream of the crop, the cat's meow and the violator's worst enemy! She has spunk, spark, intelligence and leaves no one questioning where she stands on any given topic. In addition, Leslie has a heart of gold and bleeds for all those who bleed. I don't know what a lolliepop award is or what it signifies, but, if you and Leslie are recipients then I am assured of an underlying prestige which must be associated with its giving. I can only surmise that it is "one of a kind" and reserved for others who are also "one of a kind". Such occasion warrants fanfare, balloons, confetti and favors, but alas, I've only admiration for two remarkable women to leave in this itty, bitty comment box. Life is not always fair. I will leave it to the two of you, to squeeze from here my secret affections. On second thought, I have no want for either of you to drown in so much sentimentality and God forbid; who knows where Leslie might actually go, should she ever learn that she is liked! Well done butterfly. A worthy tribute.

Voted up and across. You have presented the readers with a wonderful description of my friend Ms. L. We both met a long time ago on another site we wrote on and then both of us migrated here to HP. Although my friend knows I don't have a grasp on poetry, she most assuredly is aware that I will still read what she has written. Why? Because as Forest Gump said, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get."

Whatever Leslie writes it will be done with passion and a deep rooted desire to shake some sanity into a somewhat crazed world. My friend doesn't play hide and seek with her detractors or naysayers either. Nope...not Leslie. She meets them head on and fires back a litany of retorts and common sense answers.

I personally can sum up my feeling for Ms. L. in one word...respect. I respect her views, writing ability and commitment to plug away day in and day out to get her messages read.

Well the buttons are popping off my shirt... in pride. nellieanna, giving this award to my niece Leslie (which she certainly deserves) not only recognizes her amazing ability to get her point across, usually humerously using the written word... but also recognizes her many other wonderful qualities.

Reading your Hub and the comments from so many who admire, respect and love Leslie... brought tears to my eyes too. She certainly has worked long and hard to become the person she is today... Happy Lollypop, Sashie.

I, for one, do, Leslie. . . except that I'm not just one, but among a throng of folks who LIKE you, really, truly LIKE you, sweetie - even better than Sally Field (though she was really liked enough by the Academy to win that Oscar! tee hee :-)

I tell you it's not a sucker punch! ROFL. Yep, the Lollipop Award was Chris' stroke of genius and I immodestly admit that I'm pretty proud of myself for picking such a good recipient for the 7th one. I just can't quite accept that it's the first tribute for you, though, because I read tributes to you tumbling over themselves in your comments threads! But if I have the honor of bestowing your first Unofficial Officail Award, then it's simply my great pleasure!

No wonder you've felt at home and welcomed in HP, since you've added your special luster to it each time you write! There's no doubt you'll continue to decorate the place with those special words you bring to it!

Shauna -- she most certainly is the cream of the crop; cream must rise - unless it's been homogenized, and that's not our Leslie!!

Yes, her meow is a warning signal for violators, as well. A great combination, for someone to have very strong convictions & also such a compassionate heart and rollicking good disposition.

I admire her determination and courage immensely. She was a natural choice for the award!

FyrFytr - Thank you for visiting and adding your approval! Your description of Leslie is quite on-spot. Then she handles the raw, cutting edge results that are often aroused with great finesse and wisdom, in my opinion. When someone gives courageous opinion and exposure of highly sensitive controversial subjects needing the exposure and is up to the responses, too - that person has my respect. She always does. I couldn't think of a worthier recipient of the award either, which is why she's mine! :-)

Debbie - thank you for your support of the Lollipop choices; - mine and those of my predecessors!

I think what's so wonderful about this kind of kudos award is that it can so well recognize the vast variety of personalities of individuals in this loosely connected group in which the main common denominator is our mutual love of the pen! How we use it is as varied as we all are! Isn't it a lovely tribute to all of us that we sincerely appreciate each other openly and enthusiastically, even embracing each others' opinions sometimes!

I'm always proud of how you do that Debbie - with diplomacy & honesty!

This sharing Hubpage spirit shines out among a flock of groups in which contention is a most noticeable element!

Like all above, your choice was very clear from your nice description and very well deserved so far. Our very own charismatic Leslie aka ImKarn is the gorgeous and enigmatic choice for the apt magical 7th Lollipop award which you have so nicely carried forward with your lucid manner of presentation. It was really like a star studded red carpet award function and the show was unfolding so magically in your hub. Very nicely done and I have pressed all possible buttons here and sharing across the board.

Dear Leslie......aka ImKarn....congratulations and you are the right choice enjoy the ride and I am so happy for you. You really deserve this with your such magical persona to be felt far across the ocean over the virtual world and dominate a major portion of our many hearts. Wish you all the very best of everything here and everywhere always.

Ah, Alan. I'll bet you know more about what a Lollipop award is & signifies than you did moments before you clicked into the hub here! Hope you find time to investigate the earlier hubs awarding it. (That trim list in the hub above of those who've received & passed them along is with live links, btw.)

There certainly is prestige in the award selections. The standards are high & just by each award having been made by the preceding recipient!

Like you, I didn't know what it was, - till I was introduced to it when Martie chose to award it to me. I'm still reeling! (Maybe that's the Lollipop dance Sunnie Day mentioned in her comment above! Great one: - the Lollipop Reel! If the ballroom be decorated with the festive "fanfare, balloons, confetti and favors" your response envisioned, all the better!

Best of all, though, is your expression of admiration and approval for Leslie and me! Those decorations are merely that. The real things are your approval and "secret affections". Nothing itty bitty about their value and no comment box can diminish them ! No task at all to squeeze the messages from it.

I'm pretty sure that, - if she ever doubted it, - Leslie is convinced she's Liked, really Liked! Such an outpouring! She's a worthy recipient of all the tributes she receives. Thank you for yours for both of us! They're special treasures.

Pagesvoice (Dennis, if I may) - any friend of Leslie's has to be a friend of mine! Thank you for adding to and 'fleshing out' her personality & accolades, from a perspective prior to HP & ever since!

I love your way of expressing your reaction to poetry. It's my main writing genre and I can agree it is very much like a box of chocolates, never knowing what you'll get. But - so are jokes, right? :-D

Yes, Leslie's work is characterized by passion & purpose. She 'boldly goes where' few go, at least few with the combination of fervor & civilized restraint towards getting sucked into useless personal attacks, which settle nothing and do no good. She's all about looking directly at what isn't fair & doesn't work for the good of p-e-o-p-l-e, & then working on solutions, rather than bogging down in futility. It's a real talent. Yes - that word respect sums up the response to her, exactly.

Randi - Aw - thank you! I don't know how I missed out on its progress till I was chosen to receive it! Don't feel badly about losing track a bit. I'm just overjoyed to be able to carry it forward in my small way! Now we can all add our support to it.

It's amazing how well this network of folks interweaves, isn't it? Yes, there's much more about her to learn. Thank you, my friend.

Thank you for visiting here, to join in the celebration of your lovely niece, Leslie, and to observe the surge of appreciation and love for her from her fellow Hubbers! Thank you for the votes, too!

Yes, she does deserve the recognition! Her diligence has paid off in becoming all she's meant to be; - except, whatever else is in store for her! She has plenty of time left, I'd say!

Ruby - Your comment tiptoed in there among such numerous accolades, I almost missed it! Yikes! I'm barely keeping up - may have to resume in the morning! She's just so popular! If I've missed anyone - "I'll be back!"

Thank you for agreeing with my selection for the award, Ruby. Indeed she is the 'lollipop of hubpages'! And a sweeter, more fun AND more honest, courageous one is unimaginable. I admire her stand on all she believes 'needs work' - and her willingness to contribute her part.

She just goes on with it despite any naysayers. We used to call that 'backbone' or 'grit' - or both! When it's coupled with common sense clarity, it really does cut through some dense murk. She's more concerned with getting light & air to these issues to start with, than with attempting resolving the ground-in glitches overnight with a few pecks at them. She's good at opening them up for real examination - and debate where it's warranted.

As for the Lollipop banner - she'l do it proud- as she's already demonstrated!

Deergha - thank you kindly! Your votes & agreement are much appreciated! I love your elegant way of wording it, too.

For sure, our Leslie deserves red-carpet treatment for her award-winning performance as a stellar Hubber! Hugs!

web923 - It's my pleasure to meet you here under these happy circumstances. I peeked at your hub site & plan to revisit it more deeply.

Yes - no doubt Leslie is an angel in disguise. Besides I'd hate for your dentist to have to dig out those brass grommets from your leather-stained teeth! ;-}

Thank you so much for visiting and approving my Lollipop selection!

Voted up and awesome. Thanks for the sweet sugar rush Nell. Fantastic hub and a very deserving Lollypop Award recipient. Leslie is one great and terrific lady and truly deserves this award. I could just picture Leslie saying that Bette Davis line, 'Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy night." Hugs to both of you wonderful ladies.

Such a beautiful tribute, love your candy and video choices that describe perfectly the #7 choice, Leslie Silverman. Spot on, I love your description, enthusiastic with no hum hawing. I agree, quite fitting. Congratulations to you too and your super choice.

Dear Rasma - Thank you! - Yes, I could picture her saying the Bette Davis line, too. The whole attitude and sense of mystery & impending danger captured some of our Leslie! I was delighted with that familiar connection. No one like Bette. No one like Leslie!

Ruby Rose - Happy that you visited so I could meet you. Of course I had to check out your Hubsite - and find it calling me back! You've a lovely way with words! Glad you agree with my choice & description of her in visuals, audios and mere words. I appreciate your visit and congratulations!

Stopped by to check out who was still at the party and...I end up with tears running down my cheeks..I don't have much in the way of family, so...consider yourselves all adopted..

I canno express how moved I truly am...

Thank you Nellieanna, and thank you my amazing friends..

Just what I feared! - (blush) - I missed acknowledging & replying to an important comment: yours, Paula! The accolades were coming in so fast & thick, I simply lost my place! Just discovered my oversight.

Thank you for your lovely response. I'm glad to hear that my description gave away the recipient. I didn't mention her name in the title at first, so the suspense could mount. Then inserted it so that people browsing would see who was being honored!

I certainly enjoyed doing the honors of selecting and honoring the next Lollipop Awardee! I've no doubt Leslie's presentation and passing along of the award will be something to behold! While she holds it, - it will be well-served!

Thank you for your comments!

Yep, the party goes on!! Refreshments are getting a little scarce & picked over, in fact! . . .

Am thrilled to be adopted by a favorite person, but it'll have to be as some preceding generation to you, Leslie. A grannie, maybe?

What a wonderful award to receive and the people thus far who have received it are top notch in any ones books. How sweet it is Nellieanna to see you getting sugar coated, you deserve every ounce of it. Now can I lick a green one please, mint was my favorite back then, second was grape. Heck for that matter, I'd suck on any lolipop with you by my side sitting watching the sunset.

To pass the torch to such a fine lady as Leslie is a perfect pass. She is one of the most out spoken, defenderS of her gender, fighter for all causes, doesn't back down Everrrrrr. And I'm proud to call her my fellow Canadian. Leslie is a very creative writer and poet all wrapped into one. I am so pleased that you chose her to keep afloat these Lolipops awards.

I would have a lick or two with her as well, but would make sure I don't drop my guard. I've heard she has one hell of a left hook. LOL Voted up, tweeted and shared. CONGRATULATIONS NELLIEANNA AND LESLIE FOR BOTH BEING AWARDED THIS WONDERFUL HONOR.

Nellieanna...i read where this has to be passed on in a matter of days, but - i'm leaving town on sunday least several days..

i'll get on it the second i get home - i already know who's getting it next..

i hope that's ok...i don't want anyone to worry that i'll hoard this lolli all to will be an honor to pay it forward..

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 4 years ago from TEXAS Author

Vincent - oh, yes - it's definitely and honor - and fun - to receive the Lollipop Award. What's difficult is to let go of it! haha! But that's its charm, being a dynamic, moving award, passing forward the honors!

The green lollies were lime flavored in my time, though I'd have loved mint, too. I can't recall ever having a mint-flavored lollipop. But it would be um - um - good! But none of that holds a candle to the pleasant thought of sitting by you watching a sunset!

If ever anyone deserved the honor of a prestigious award among her peers, it's Leslie! If she were in public office, things would get DONE! But that would be a shame, since it would cut into her writing time, at least till she'd retired from office and had begun to write her memoirs of it.

Yes, I'd imagine she could defend herself rather effectively, though why she'd want to in a lollipop licking scenario with you, I can't fathom! ;-)

Well, it'll be verrrrrry exciting to see who she'll choose as her Lollipop successor!

Thank you, my friend for your most delightful comment!

Leslie, - not to worry. There's no hard-and-fast timing rule. (If there were, I'd have been drummed out of the corps or at least arrested for lollipop squatting!)

But the spirit of it is that passing it along just shouldn't be allows to lapse indefinitely, and the sooner it is, while everyone's interest is piqued, the better, so that it stays fresh on all our minds.

But you're certainly entitled to hoard it while you're off gallivanting without fretting about it or dragging your 'puter along to write a hub during your trip! Your pick for the next Lollipop award will be eagerly anticipated in the meantime, the suspense building & adding to the fun when it is published after your return.

Man ! A guy could never get away with calling Leslie a LollyPop could he ? ............I do believe she'd slap us silly ! ........She is though ! I'm trying to figure out what flavor she is though !.....:-}

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 4 years ago from TEXAS Author

haha, Ed - - You're surely right and it's unlikely that we'll ever know! What guy would be so foolish?

She was thrilled with the honor, though! And of course she's next in line to pass it along to someone else - so we have much in store!

Lollipop flavor for Leslie?. . . let's see. . . .root beer, maybe? - - caramel? truffle? champagne? mimosa?

ahorseback profile image

ahorseback 4 years ago

champagne ! Nellieanna , or perhaps Molsons !

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 4 years ago from TEXAS Author

Well, she's a woman of many modes, so maybe she should have a canister of various flavors for her pleasure! Champagne or beer as she's inspired.

(Do we really suppose she'd let us choose for her??) ;-)

Ray 4 years ago

Absolutely the best choice . I've known Leslie personally for a number of years and recognized then what a talented writer she is . Dare I say I hope that some of my proding and poking back then had something to do with convincing her to share her works with others . Always thought provoking and a champion of "making things right" with the world around us . I'm convinced this girl is going somewhere and I'll be along for te ride .

I see her going for one coffee flavoured ( Do they make those ?)

Leslie ...get on it if they don't !!!

ahorseback profile image

Nellieanna ! No nor will we ever tell her what she can celibrate with ! I'll tell you , If that woman came to my place of abode ......I would run to the local and buy whatever she orderedme to .......I'm a wimp for powerful women ! ..........But you know that !

the undisputable first lady of the Hubs herself: Nellieanna

Colin - haha - well, I would not compete with Ms. Leslie. I'm quite happy for her to be in the high honors of Doyennes of the Hubpages! Besides, there are so many fine writer/women who belong there, it would only get complicated to attempt naming any absolute 'TOP' honors! Thank you for including me 'up there' in the stratosphere!

Oh, yes, Debbie! Leslie was my pick for the Lollipop award. It was hard to select just one, but if it had to be just one, she was THE one! :-) I'm so pleased that she picked you, too! You deserve it and it's given me a better chance to get to know you. I fully agree that you're a great choice!

Thank you for the visit and sharing! Hugs!

. . . I'm not even quite sure what this award is about, what lollipops have to do with all this, etc - but any time I get a chance to look at those mischievous eyes and that sneaky smile, I'm as happy as a kid in a candy store . . . hey, is that what the lollipops are about?

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 4 years ago from TEXAS Author

Mickey, I confess that I had no idea what it was about or what lollipop awards had to do with anything, either. But then I got one and was caught up in the sugary delight! So I think perhaps you've resolved the mystery! Being delighted and happy as kids in candy stores must BE precisely what the lollipops are all about!

I agree that Leslie's mischievous demeanor fits it perfectly , certainly partly why I passed the award on to her! I'm pleased that you dropped by to add to her praises and to view my hub!

I don't know Leslie very well but now I'm certainly going to read more of her work. You did a superb job with this hub! The Herb Alpert album grabbed me immediately. I remember my parents and their friends playing it and I was so intrigued by the cover! And that little clip of Bette Davis - well, that sold me. This is all so much fun! Congratulations to you and to Leslie on winning this sweet award! ;-)

Nellieanna profile image

Nellieanna 3 years ago from TEXAS Author

Alexandra - hello! I hope you do get better acquainted with this amazing gal. Never a dull moment at her site! She takes her causes seriously and fearlessly, writes extremely well, is funny, can be shocking and -- all in all, is some kind of wonderful! The Bette Davis clip fits her well! ;-)

Since you are some kind of wonderful personified, each of you will benefit!

Yes, Herb Alpert did some amazing music. Less known are his ultra-sophisticated and more classic renditions, I think; such as Midnight Sun, Someone To Watch Over Me, All The Things You Are, to name just a few. His repertoire is very impressive. He somehow is known just for the more rambunctious pieces which brought him to everyone's attention. But he had a lengthy career.

Hugs, my friend! Thank you so much!

I already follow Leslie so need of an introduction for me in that respect, but this was a nice fulsome tribute to her abilities and participation in HubPages.

I can't say I've ever heard of the Lollipop Award, but it sounds like one worth winning. Congrats on your own 'taste' of success - one lollipop which really doesn't 'suck' :-) Alun.

I suppose the Lollipop Award ran its course but it was great fun then. You're right - it doesn't 'suck'. :-)
