Interview: Jim Trimble
Meet Jim Trimble
I am so pleased that my good friend Jim, aka The Frog Prince, has finally 'hopped in' for his interview.
I am happy to share some thoughts from The Frog Prince, who is the coolest combination of salty and sweet that on HubPages you ever may meet:
My secret talent...
I'm a great lover but now that I've let that cat out of the bag it's no secret anymore :)
The times I'm most creative ....
are either when I'm around other creative people or in the early morning hours when it is quiet and I can be still with myself.
The times I'm most joyful....
these days anyway, seem to center around my motorcycle and riding with the wind in my face - away from the mad traffic in the Metroplex area. The feeling of freedom I encounter is a rather sensual rush of energy. It's hard to describe to someone who hasn't either experienced it or hasn't experienced it like it should be experienced. I enjoy the type of people who have that passion just as I do. It's an unusual group of people.
Something I'd like to learn to do...
I'd like to learn how to play the piano. Giving it some serious thought lately but will need to find the time. Time, always that pesky commodity.
If you peeked in my closet, you'd be surprised to find...
That I am a clothes horse.
My dream dinner date...
Maybe around the table with some of the Hubbers I enjoy where the steaks are plentiful and the beer and wine flow.
My favorite vacation spot...paradise to me...
Would be in Costa Rica where I'd like to retire and sail.
Something I got rid of and never missed...
Need to tread lightly around this one I reckon. Since it doesn't ask "someone" I'll take the safe path. That made me laugh just typing that. This question is geared toward a "stuff person" and I'm not one. I've gotten rid of so much "stuff" over the years that I can't remember what some of it even was. If I can't remember what it was I am positive that I never missed it.
Something I fear...
I'm often told that I don't seem to have any fear which is probably true. If I do have one, it is that our nation ceases to exist as we know it. That is tied to ignorance and I don't like ignorant people. I don't fear them, just dislike them.
What I most despise in others...
Narcissism and lying don't do much for me other than make me shake my head in disgust. Some people can't differentiate truth from reality and they have a certain danger attached to them. It's best to pay attention to those who actually believe their own lies.
What song feels like the story of your life...?
Well part of it anyway goes like this so listen closely friend:
The answer to your entire question here is in the question Maria my dear.
Bob Seger: The Answer's In The Question
Some advice to my younger self ....
Listen to my older self. When we're younger we think we know everything about anything and have the world by its tail. It's supposed to be a phase in life but with some it becomes a pattern - a destructive pattern if you let it be. The idea that no one can tell you anything you don't already know results in blinders to life in so many cases. I have been a work in progress from the Viet Nam Era to present and have had to transition along the way. That's the part of my older self that my younger self should take heed of.
The best part of getting older...
Is not having to make the same mistakes again unless you want to.
Best advice to a new writer...
Start writing!
What subjects are you best at writing about ....
My genre tends toward political commentary though occasionally I'll bust loose with relationship series here and there.
What would be a subject that would challenge your current writing efforts? Or are you perfectly happy where you are now?
I reckon, as far as writing goes, I am happy where I am. I'd hate to have to meet deadlines all the time.
My favorite piece of writing?
I have quite a library here but I reckon there are two I had the most fun writing. The first was about sexual ideas and sex between ideas: Sexual Ideas Or Sex Between Ideas
Then again this one was a joy to write:A Clothes Rippin Hair Pullin Throw Down
Thank you, Jim ....
We have certainly shared our 'highs and lows' with each other over these last months, as good friends do. I have also appreciated the songs you have sent me, packed with powerful lyrics and melody, like the Bob Seger song you selected in your interview. And for the record, I may never know the answer... but that's OK.
As far as 'your' Temptations song... well, I have selected: "I'll Be in Trouble".
Your decency is unbelievable. It makes me certain I have wonderful judgment in friends.
