   Should HubPages put a moratorium on all of those "how to make money online" and "SEO" hubs?
   
   Seriously, should HubPages put a moratorium on all of those "how to make money online" and "search engine optimization" hubs? I am sick of seeing them when hub hopping. They add nothing to the experience, are usually atrociously written,  and reflect poorly on the entire site.

   Well, it's up to the Hubber who read those Hubs. If you don't like a Hub you can vote it down or Flag it for review if it is of poor quality or if it violates the HubPages Publishing Guidelines.
   
   Ultimately, the HubPages Community is responsible for having unacceptable Hubs removed. Although there are many Hubs that I don't like, I rate them as such but realize that what I consider junk, others may consider treasure, and therefore, it is up to the voting of users to filter these Hubs in or out.

   Thanks for your answer- I absolutely do vote down bad content, in fact, I am rather ruthless about it, but there seems to be too much garbage for hubbers to police on their own. That's why I threw this question out there- to see what the general feeling is on HubPages taking a more active role in quashing these things.

   In my short time at hubpages, I've seen absolutely stellar hubs, average hubs, and bottom-of-the barrel hubs. Although I'm not a fan of the Make-Money-Online hubs, I'm also aware that a few of our best hub-writers make a reasonable side-line income from their avocation. And I don't begrudge them that.
   
   I can live with the prohibition on the advocacy of gambling. My concern here is the slippery slope of the quality continuum. If we ban certain classes of MMO hubs today, what are the targets down the road? Political incorrectness? Saying something negative about anything whatsoever? Incorrect grammar, spelling, and punctuation on the part of hub authors for whom English is a second or third language?

   I don't know about the others, but I do have a couple of 'make money online' hubs.
   
   I think that mine are better than most other ones that I've seen.
   
   But yeah, I think there should be a limit on how many of those are around. just like any subject.

   Where are the jobs?  The biggest area for growth in the US and maybe the world is the internet.  There should be more hub pages on how to create wealth and make money online.  Since SEO matters in getting visitors to site, then people want to know why they getting the results they are getting.  Maybe making money online and SEO are not important to you, so you should visit sites that are more in line with your thinking.  You sound as if you don't have an entrepreneurial spirit and would rather have the government take care of you.

   I would say it's written by the community and read by the community. If it breaks not laws and doesn't violate any current regulations on hubpages than leave it be.

   Let me say up front that I have a vested interest in this question because I have written Hubs on both subjects. But I think you are wrong, Wendy, in seeking to restrict MMO (Make-Money-Online), SEO or any other topics on HubPages. It is a free community and has a proud history of publishing a huge range of interesting and useful articles.  I agree that there are a great number of Hubs on both MMO and SEO.  Clearly some of them are spun from other articles elsewhere on the internet, which is deplorable and should be voted down whenever detected.  But the core intention of many (or even most?) Hubbers is to make money online in some form or other, so I don't think that we should try to introduce restrictions on any of their efforts.  As far as SEO is concerned, again I agree that the subject has been done to death but it is an integral system for those webmasters who don't want to pay Google vast amounts of cash for PPC (Pay-Per-Click).  So we should let people continue writing about MMO and SEO as much as they like.  Perhaps, if you read some of them, you might find enough new material to make you change your mind!
