How do you maintain traffic to your hubs after you have used backlinks?

I do my best to write quality hubs that people will want to read, and I use two sites for backlinks (Digg, reddit).  After a couple of days though, the number of views I'm getting falls off pretty sharply.  What (if anything) do you do to maintain a high level of traffic on your hubs? or does it just happen over time?

Just continue with backlinks - there is nothing you can do about traffic dropping from one site to your hubs.  You just have to carry on linking newer content and creating backlinks to your older ones too.

You could try using a tool called Onlywire which has a free version and will allow you to create links to over 30 social networking and bookmarking sites.

I have a hub on this so please stop over and read it if you can.

One way is to post links to your hubs to sites such as Shetoldme, Redgage, Tipdrop, tweet your hubs at least a few times per month and post links on Facebook. There is also a site called IMAutomator on which you can submit your links to various social sites. All of these are free sites.

While Digg, Reddit, Facebook, and Twitter are good for getting direct traffic to your hubs, these backlinks are not "true" backlinks. All of these sites are "no follow" backlinks, which means Google and other search engines do not factor these links in for your search rankings.

I would suggest to continue with linking your hubs to these social networking sites, but do some quick research on "do follow" links for more sustainable traffic.
