When putting links in your hubs, do you get them to open in a new tab?
Which keeps the original page, or do you allow links to open in the same tab and 'overwrite' your page.
If I can have it open in a new tab I always do. That is for my own websites or sites like HubPages. I figure that the person may click on a link to view another article of mine, buy a product from my page, etc. but they may still want to come back and read the rest that is on the original page.
The longer you can keep the person on the website the better unless you are driving them to make a sale, but even then you can have it open in a new page and they can purchase the product. Then they may purchase, and click on a link to read the next hub in your series, find something else to click on or buy, etc.
It depends on the purpose!
If you're talking about hubpages, what you want is to keep the reader at your site, as most as possible. This increases the score of your hub and the possibility of revenue.
So you should open them on a new tab.
If your goal is for the reader to see some other site, then you should open it on the same window.
Sometimes you just don't have the choice, so you have to accept whatever is given to you...

It would be a nice feature if when we click on a link it opened in a new window. Most other websites do this. The main reason it is helpful is that HubPages still remains open giving a longer view time as well as keeping people on your site as they have to close the window to leave. I have closed...
