What exactly is a photo hub?

Is it a good idea to publish a hub that is just a collection of photographs?

I doubt so. Google unable to index your page based on photos only. Furthermore, hubs mainly about writing. You need to at least write some thing about your photos, where you took it, how you took it and so on.

Anyway, if that is possible, I would like to do that too smile

I think, it is ok to publish a hub which have several photos. But only photos always does not express everything. So, a little explanation is required. Adding a little description besides the photos, helps others to understand clearly about the photo. For example, the question just has a photo but it is not possible to understand the exact thing by looking the picture. So, if some little description is mentioned with this photo, then everybody could easily understand about the photo.

the photo hub is formatted to allow you to upload a photo to your hub and also gives you an area to use any caption for your hub as well as using the proper attributions and url to the source of the photo

If the photos are good I will definitely gawk at them! Use keywords in the captions and include a description in the summary.

No, photos are great but there should be some text too, preferably at least a few hundred words. Otherwise, hubpages might consider your hub to be "substandard".

A photo hub is predominantly full of high quality photos. (10 plus photos)
It should also contain at least 500 words describing what the photos represent or are about.
I have several photo hubs and this is my yardstick, if you want to get traffic i.e.page views.
They should all be Alt tagged too if you want Google to pick them up.
I have a hub on the topic if you really want to know how to use photos to best effect.  Check it out. Titled Google Picture Search.

      Hi Mike.
      Well commented.
When you say "They should be Alt tagged" can you explain what you mean, or should I go to your hub on Google picture search?

      Hello Ghaelach,
It would be better to read the hub. Titled Google Picture Search. Save getting done for duplicate content lol

Using photos can really enhance your hub, but they may not be very meaningful if they were published just by themselves. It would be best to write an introduction to them and then separate sections that tell something about each one and why you have chosen it, where it was taken, or what it means to you. Hubs are really intended for writing and if you do that, you will be surprised at how your writing makes the photos more interesting. The number of words will accrue quite quickly and then your hub will be more acceptable.

I think photographs mean more than writing so it speaks a lot.
