    How often does google/hp check for duplicate content?

    I just updated a post - Lost in translation - with a rewrite of it on my website, and the original here. Just wondering how long it will display duplicate content on it. Thank you smile

    How often google checks your site depends a lot on your pagerank.  Pages that have a higher pagerank will naturally get spidered quicker than pages that don't.  However, you can also create a new post that links to the rewritten post on another site.  This will get the spider to your page quicker and the cache should get updated sooner!

    when a search engine robot crawls a website, it reads the pages, and stores the information in its database. Then, it compares its findings to other information it has in its database. Depending upon a few factors, such as the overall relevancy score of a website, it then determines which are duplicate content, and then filters out the pages or the websites that qualify as spam. Unfortunately, if your pages are not spam, but have enough similar content, they may still be regarded as spam.

    If you keep adding your own new material until there's more than what you've "duplicated" the flag goes away...but give a day.  Sometimes cutting the dup'd stuff...waiting for the flag to go away...then pasting the dup'd stuff back works.
