If I recall there used to be a nominate a hub for editor's choice button on my feed page.  I think it was right above the Hub of the Day.  I don't see it anymore.  Is it gone or has it been moved somewhere else?  Thanks in advance.

      Hi GTF,

We recently removed the nomination form because we hardly ever got nominations. We decided it didn't make sense to take up prime real estate on the Feed with a feature nobody was using.

I never once thought to use it.

Hi Christy, does that mean the Editors Choice Hubs program has being shelved or will staff still be selecting them.  Just wondered if I should change my profile page to reflect this now please.
I used this function quite regularly.

Staff is still selecting EC Hubs as usual, and we have some plans in the works to offer additional benefits to EC Hubs as well. smile

Thank you Christy, that sounds good.  I look forward to hearing about the additional benefits to EC Hubs.

I've used it on a few hubs, but they never got featured that I saw. So stopped using it.

Hi Glimmer Twin Fan, I recall that it is on your profile page settings, if you go into there you should find something there relating to Editor's Choice.

There was a 'Nominate a Hub for Editor's Choice' button above HOTD on our feed, but it appears to be gone. This has nothing to do with the setting to opt in or out of the EC program.

There you go, question answered by Christy Kirwan. Shame really.

LoL! That sounds about right for Hubpages. It seemed pretty silly to me that Hubpages Editors would NEED help choosing the HotD - but, if you've read my previous stuff about this subject (that hasn't been deleted or banned); then you know that our beloved editors do a generically bad job at choosing this spotlight hub in my opinion. I really fail to understand what - exactly - Hub Editors DO? They just approve or disapprove of articles as they are written, or what?

Taking up prime website real estate... Yeah, removed a HUGE eyesore, LoL! I didn't realize it took up so much ROOM. wink

I don't remember it being up for that long... maybe you need to give it more time. When your readers finally realize that it is on THEM to make you aware of the good stuff since you can't 'just tell' yourself as you are coming across it - they will start using it.

Sally is correct, this only refers to the Editor's Choice nomination option, which is unrelated to Hub of the Day. If you would like to nominate a Hub for Hub of the day, please check to make sure it follows all the Hub of the Day Qualifying Criteria and if it does, you may email it to me.

Sorry Christy,  I deleted my reply before yours turned up - guess I thought it was not worth getting involved.

Why don't you make it easy for us to do that again - and I just might do that. Btw, I seriously doubt that I will need the DQ Criteria. I mean, how hard can it be?

          1) Don't worry if there are any glaring spelling errors in the first paragraph
          2) Definitely don't worry if there are any other obvious grammar mistakes throughout the rest of the hub

How am I doing? That button was NOT in anyone's way - please put it back up. You've already turned the HotD into a joke. Give us a chance to actually use it.

The button refer to Editors Choice awards which are completely different to HOTD awards.  You cannot vote for a HOTD award.  These are chosen by HubPages staff.
Actually some very fine writers have recently been awards HOTD awards.  I don't think it is fair to say that all these awards are a laughing matter.
A little civility goes a long way.

It's a shame that the button to request a form to nominate a hub for editor's choice was done away with. I actually voted for a few but none were ever selected so I stopped. Now that all HOTD's have to be Editor's Choice before they can be considered it would make more sense than ever to have that button back. Does that mean we hubbers have no say in what hub get nominated for either Editor's Choice or Hub of the Day?

There is a link above where a nomination can be emailed to HubPages.

Yes Sally but that's not easy to find at the time when you find a hub you wish to nominate. A link should be displayed on the feed page or our profile page so it's easy like it used to be....and Christy said that was for HOTD not Editor's Choice....now a hub has to be Editor's Choice first.

Apologies, it was definitely in a good place before.  I used it quite regularly and it would be nice to have it back where it belongs.

I'm not sure bringing the button back will make a difference, Jodah. On another forum on this issue, I stated that if the person isn't opted-in, staff cannot pick them anyway, right?

It's silly... Every hub should be able to be nominated. Why they have things set up so that peeps have to 'opt-in' is goofy. It's probably one of the reasons why HotD peeps often complain about it messing things up for them, later. It makes me wonder what happens to those hubs via whatever application they are using. If they treated all hubs the same without 'opt-ins' - things like the really GOOD  'Rising Star Program' (and probably the neat Hub Nomination Button) they had going would still be in affect, also - instead of them dropping them because they 'don't receive traction' to continue with them. They seem to have problems 'informing' people and getting them to 'opt-in'. So eliminate it along with whatever those weird, 'technical' details are that happens with them. I mean, it's not like people have to 'worry' about winning an award, ha! If you want to shoot for that award - then write for it. If you don't, then don't.

You're referring to two different programs.

Any hub can receive the Hub of the Day (HOTD) award. The accolade can only be seen if you somehow choose the hub to read. It appears before the title.

To receive the Editor's Choice designation, it requires the URL to change from our subdomain to that of Hub Pages. Some people don't want this to happen, so they have opted out of the program. Recently, the team has added Editor's Choice text to the hubs on our profile, so they can be easily identified.

Not anymore, PegCole17. You have to opt-in to EC program to be considered for HOTD. New rule went into effect around 3 weeks ago.

There is/was a small link about it on the front page under the HotD under the 'Recent Blog Posts' heading. This is what I mean about 'not being able to get the word out' very well. I don't know why they don't make 'new' things like that more see-able in here. That's why stuff doesn't take off, I'm sure. This site could use a couple of good marketing peeps.
