I've signed up for Google Ads and it currently says:
An AdSense account does not exist for this login, as your application is currently in review. Within a week of your application date, we'll review your application and follow-up with you via email. Once you are approved to join AdSense, you'll be able to log in to your account and get started.
Only problem is that it's been longer than a week, it's been quite a while actually and I still haven't heard back from them?

It can be frustrating, but hang in there.
Be patient, a lot of people have to wait longer than a week, they should probably change that eta.
Welcome to Hubpages, theiconmurphy! Everyone is right, just be patient and your account should be approved sooner than you think. I can't remember how long I waited for my Adsense account to be approved, but I know I did not apply for an Adsense account until a month after I had already written a few hubs. Just keep on writing. I wish you all the best here in Hubpages.
You first create quality content. Adsense will get approved.
