Going after Summits: Pursuing your Dreams

The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.

Proverbs 21:5

As a teacher, my students often ask me: What course they will pursue in college. My reply as often is, “What is your heart’s desire? What do you really want to do in life?” Above all, you had better known what you really wish to do in this life.

But, I happen to stumble upon a book by Aleta St. James on Life Shift, that we can shape our lives, shape our dreams and rebuild our future, no matter what your age in life is.

These are her suggestions:

1. Recognize your desires in order to create your dreams to guide you to your destiny – the first question that comes to our mind is how? You can access this desire by listening to the inner voice that is seated deep in your heart and that is connected to your psyche. This power deep inside you impels you to fashion the influence of your dreams in order for you to manifest your destiny. According to Napoleon Hill “ What the mind can conceive, the body can achieve.” Yes, we can, if we believe in the power of the will. Nonetheless, the problem is: How to access this desire? Try to ask yourselves these questions:

a. Does my desire make me feel energized and happy when I think of recognizing it?

b. Will executing my dreams challenge me to go beyond where I am, to create greater possibilities in my life?

c. Will this desire positively affect me and the other people?

d. Do I need to call on the help of a higher spiritual force to create it?

These questions keep you in the right track, by heartily answering these questions then you’ll know that your desires are positive and be beneficial to you later on.

What then is the setback in not identifying clearly your desires?

We may have the tendency to fill in the empty void inside us that no one can fill, we may have the tendency to overcompensate, that instead of following our desires and dreams we amass great fortune, yet it still leave us empty and bare.

The following are indicators whether you are pursuing that negative desire:

a. Are my yearnings born out of hurt and revenge?

b. Are my cravings motivated that I am good enough?

c. Are my desires coming out of a sense of obligation or trying to get someone else’s approval?

d. Are my wants coming out of feeling insufficient?

e. Am I envious of what other people have?

f. When I’ve manifested what I desire, will I still feel unfulfilled?

2. Discover your deepest dreams so that it will come to life and it will become a reality. This is another force to be reckoned with. In order for us to access the seat of our dreams, we need to go to the deepest place inside of us, which holds this magical spot. And use the creative power of our imagination so we can connect it with our life. For it enables us to go beyond our limitations. According to Eleanor Roosevelt, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” These questions may guide you in finding your dream: a. When was the last time you felt fully yourself and precisely where you ought to be? b. What makes your heart start pumping and your resourcefulness kick into gear? c. What makes you sense younger and livelier than you usually feel? d. What desires keep coming to the surface no matter how much you try to ignore them? e. Do you ever feel like you’ve just plugged into something big and have an unlimited source of energy? When does this happen? f. Is there anything you do that is so exciting it makes even the most complicated sacrifices even significant? Remind yourself that nothing is impossible when you set yourself on what you want and work with the higher self to guide you.

3. Manifesting your destiny by setting in mind what is your purpose in life. Have you asked yourself that very important question: What is my life’s purpose? What I want to do in life? How do I find meaning in life? As the saying goes by William Jennings Bryan, “Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” So there you go, it doesn’t mean that you have no control over your destiny, but you must be in it 100 percent along the process. You may find hurdles along the way, but remember “the fruit of one’s labor is sweet.” You need to face these obstacles for it will strengthen your conviction to realize your goals in life. Don’t think that destiny is only for a chosen few, remind yourself that whoever you are, you already have this innate talent within you.

So start unleashing this power now!
