Life- The Funny Side

Updated on March 1, 2016

Laughing Makes You Healther

Life is certainly not all laughs. But, it is said that laughing can have many health benefits. Is laughter the best medicine? It is said that laughter lowers blood pressure, manages stress and it is in fact refreshing and makes us for just a few moments forget about everything else but the funny side of what has made us laugh.

From some study of this, it is said that Dr. Miller of University of Maryland discovered that laughter is great for the heart. He and his team measured the blood flow of 20 healthy people before and after they watched two different movies.....one was a funny movie the other more serious...the results were dramatically opposite. The level dropped during the serious movie and went up during the funny one...therefore he states that laughter may be as healthy as exercise. I do not know that their studies are complete.

Additional Studies About Laughing

When we laugh, it releases endorphins, the body's natural painkillers and the study also confirmed it lowers blood pressure..so that means if someone is in pain; if they could life it would reduce their pain. AND it's FREE. Why do we choose the things that cost us so much money....when we have laughter which is free.

Have you every thought about some people who seem to laugh all the time? They are usually good to be around and say something to help you forget your troubles.

Some studies indicate that laughter is contagious and in fact, there is intriguing possiblility that humans have an auditory laugh detector...a neutral circuit in the brain that responds exclusively to laughter. For instance when you see someone yawn....you can start yawning also. Same things.. One thing laughter does not interrupt speech. You laugh before you say something or after but one never break up a sentence to laugh.... Have you thought about that? I had not, but it made sense and is easy to verify... if you watch when and how people laugh.

Laughter Therapy by Dr. Annette Goodheart, Ph.D, states that the benefits of laughter can change your life. It strengthens your immune system, increases your intellectual performancce and boosts information retention. This would definitely be helpful for children with ADHD. If it works for adults, it will help children.

Why Laugh?

Do you need a reason to laugh? Nope, you don't need a reason...you can make yourself laugh.

Laughter increases our will to live, love and capacity to fight disease. It relaxes the body, and reduces problems that are associated with some diseases. The sounds of laughter is said to be more contagious than a cough, sniffle, or sneeze. It can be an effect of joy and amusement. Also, after a good laugh, have you ever noticed that it leaves an external presence and internal presence that can be recognized on ones face.

Here are some jokes that I am going to list to see if you can laugh....you have to picture this in your mind....okay, here goes....ahh go ahead and laugh!!!

  • My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished two bags of chips and a chocolate cake. I feel better already.
  • A guy goes to a psychiatrit. He says "Doc, I keep having these alternating recurring dreams. First I am a teepee; then I'm a wigwam; then I'm a teepee; than a wigwam. It's driving me crazy., What is wrong with me?" The doctor replies: "It's very simple. You are two tents."
  • Why is it called a building when it is already built?
  • Why is there an expiration date on SOUR cream?
  • How can someone draw a blank?
  • You know how most packages say "open here". What is the protocol if the package says "open somwhere else"?
  • Why does one get into trouble for "WRECKless" driving?
  • How come wrong numbers are never busy?
  • You can't have everything, where would you put it?
  • It is hard to understand how a cemetery raised its burial cost and blamed it on the cost of living.
  • The two biggest problems in America are making ends meet and making meetings end.
  • Tell a man that there are 400 billion stars and he'll believe you. Tell him a bench has wet paint and he has to touch it.

Happy...Relaxing

Smile

I know that you have noticed that when you smile at someone; they usually smile back... Smile is a happy expression...when you smile you are releasing the ability to bring calm to others.

"You haven't lost your smile at all, it's right under your nose. You just forgot it was there."

"If you see a friend without a smile; give him one of yours." Proverb quotes

"Smile, it's the second best thing you can do with your lips."

Smiling ........

Changes our mood

Relieves stress

Makes you feel successful

Helps you stay positive

Makes other people want to be around you

So we should all put on a "happy face", don't you think? I have never been known as the person who smiles all the time myself. But, this article has helped me to see that I should smile more.

I have four cats, Abby Gail, Kitty Girl, Sugar and Blackie, they make me smile. They are like children, each with their own unique personality, their ability to be loved and their approach to life. They want to run in and out of the house during the day, just like children. They relax my spirit and help me realize how unique God was in making little creatures. Yes, Blackie is the only male. He is sometimes the sweetest....so you see men can surprise you sometimes..ha!

Sometimes we have to find things that make us happy and enjoy our life. So, since I do not have grandchildren, I transfer my enjoyment to the little creatures....AND there is also Corky, my Pomeranian. He is a sweetheart and is growing old with me...so you see I do have things to make me smile. *Update 6-2015 Corky is in heaven but 'Happy' resides by my side.

Laughter the Best Medicine

I Believe....

I believe a "smile a day, will keep the doctor away"....

I believe that if we have nothing to give; we can always give a smile and a pat on the back...

I believe that even "sunshine" burns if you get too much; but a smile can never cause pain....

I believe that if I give away a smile; I will get one back....

I believe it takes less muscles to smile than it does frown....

I believe that if we can smile about the stupid things we do; we gain the ability to realize we are human....

A smile is the least expensive gift you can give anyone!!!! Let's smile more and laugh even if we do not have a reason...
