How do you feel about people who answer a question with another question?
Do you think when people answer a question with another question this is part of a Socratic didactic form of learning, communicating, getting to the root of the issue? What response do you then have after their answer? Are you taken aback, think it strange, funny or other emotion? What kind of relationship can you build with this person? What does it say about their personality? Are they fun to be with and dialogue? Waiting for your reply.
I think it depends on how often they do it. If someone claims, "The situation in America today is unjust" and they are asked, "what do you mean by 'justice'"? I think it's a legitimate question.
People can also use this method to avoid answering a question though, or just to be annoying; but defining terms is critical to clear thought.
Are they all Irish?
Sure don't the Irish do that all the time?(haha)
If you ask directions in a petrol station they'll ask you "which direction is your car facing?"
We're just trying to be extra helpful!
Some times it's necessary in order to give a proper response.
I ask questions back to make sure I understand what someone is asking so that I can the answer the question to the best of my ability. I also analyze some questions to make sure they make sense. Another reason is if someone asks me a common sense question I ask them one back to make them think of what they are asking and why they asked. Many different reasons for this question.
How do YOU feel about people that answer a question with a questions?!
I think it's ok to answer a question with a question sometimes, especially if it's for clarificatiion. However, if they do it frequently then I think there must be something wrong with that person
Do you have a problem with people who answer a question with another question?

Recently I'm noticing new members who have no hubs, no activity where they read or comment on hubs, and only join to participate in self interest and/or bleeding heart questions in various forums. Sort of using HP as a chatroom. Before anyone attacks me for this, please know I enjoy the discussion...

Why do people that don't believe in God, respond to questions about God?Don't get me wrong. I respect and appreciate every response, even if they disagree. That is everyone's right. But I usually don't waste time and energy in things that I don't believe in. Sure, I don't believe in Santa and still...

Some hubbers are taking the mick with it. It's spamming. It's not allowed in the forums. If you want attention promote yourself according to good manners. Not by over spamming in the questions section.
