Help with a school Project for my son.
My son was handed a wooden spoon in class today and told to make a wartime evacuee with it. please help lol, I don't know where to start.
thats really hard to do with a wooden spoon .. not much room for detailing
well first off... an evacuee would have lots of stuff... basically all they ever cared to see again along with supplies.. so maybe glue or hang small replicas of full bags ...a replica of a water jug . a weapon or two.
shabby, dirty torn clothing. mangled unkempt hair. possibly bloody spotts depending on how gory you want to be with it .
maybe dragging along animals .. (that one could ride, pack stuff on, and eat eventually)
I think the idea is for HIM to figure it out, not you!! With that in mind, let me add that drawing a face on the spoon and giving it hair and"clothing" (he can research the type) would be a good place to start. He might want to add some sort of writing that indicates which war the evacuee is trying to escape from. He could even make a 3D Diorama.
Lead him with questions, but let him come up with the ideas on his own. It is not YOU the teacher wants to teach, it is your son. He'll figure it out, and you should allow him to do so.
I would send a note to the teacher asking for more detail and why such a project was assigned. My wife was a teacher for 29 years. When she sent home a project, she provided the reasons for the project, the course it applied too and gave some examples of what could be done while encouraging everyone to come up with their own idea and assuring them they would be graded on effort and participation, and not the final project. She urged parents to offer suggestions, but to let the child do the work.

My son brought home a lot of schoolwork from kindergarten (obviously a worksheet packet that had been completed over the past week). Several of the sheets were marked with statements like "you need to try your best!" or "not acceptable!" I looked at his work and the work is all...

How do you help boys who are not ready for school? My son (being 7, Grade 2) just refuses to learn, because it is boring and it does not come to him so easily, so instead of enjoying school, he hates it?

My son has gone to the nursery school for a week. For few first days, he had liked to go to the school. But, now, when he gets up and his morther prepares his clothes to go to school, he cries. He said that he did not want to go to school. Who met this thing and got experiences for help? Thank you...
