I think M.G. Singh and you both have it right. I totally agree, and furthermore, I don't think we have any business over there. I feel very sorry for the women who are abused by these male-dominated abusive societies, but it is their responsibility to teach their sons to be loving, kind individuals. When they don't, their daughters pay the price, and it goes on and on.
The United States cannot continue to act as the world's police force, The Soviet Union with all its military might found that they couldn't conquer Afghanistan, so why would we be so foolish as to presume we can?
We need to keep our safeguards in place and be watchful so WHEN the mountains of Afghanistan again become a Taliban haven, we can be prepared for anything they may have in store for us. I don't, however, condone intercepting and spying on telephone conversations of everyday Americans as part of that preparation.
