   Why do celebrities like Whitney Houston have to battle addiction problems?
   
   Addiction to drugs and alcohol is common among pop singers and some sex addiction among Hollywood stars. They are achievers in their own right, public figures, good looking men and women and yet, what is it that pushes them into addiction of some sort? Most have tumultuous marriages.

   I think you answered your own question somewhat, but I shall also elaborate. I would like to state the fact that celebrities are people, just like everyone else. Just because you are a celebrity doesn't meant that you are barred from being human, and making mistakes. Despite the fact that you are successful, the way you react to that success depends on who you are and your personal backgrounds. Some people cannot handle the pressure and the demand of being popular. When you are a celebrity your independence and your privacy are completely stripped from you by the media, and your actions will either be received positively or negatively. The stress of being financially sound and the push of maintaining your career and pursuing your success all take a toll on a person's stability to remain in control of their emotions and actions. Many celebrities have troubled upbringings, have different mindsets, and achieved their success differently. When you reach the world stage, just because you are famous doesn't make you any more susceptible to making mistakes, or having misgivings about the possibility of failing. Just because you are famous, doesn't mean your character has changed, it just means that your pockets are a little deeper, the spotlight is a lot more blinding, and your privacy is all but gone. We can all achieve success, but we can also all make mistakes. Whitney Houston had a beautiful voice, but a troubled soul. And like the rest of us, she is just a person after all. God rest her soul.

   Becuase they're people too. Lots of people battle addiction. Most of them just aren't watched by the entire world throughout.

   I am not commenting on general.... only for Whitney.
   
   Whitney had a very good upbringing, she was talented and doing well, had good people around her but, SADLY, she met Bobby Brown.
   
   Bobby is into drugs (in and out of prison) etc and this influenced Whitney greatly. (once you touch drugs, it's hard to go back) So, personally, I believe that if she never met him, her life would never have taken a downward spiral. I'm sure people tried to warn her.... but when people are in Love, they can't see past it.
   
   Her case was a case of being badly influenced.
   We will always love her...
