Cable, Internet, Netflix, Dish Network/Direct T.V. Which is the best way to watch shows or movies?
In your opinion which is best according to the criteria of price, variety, convenience, and perks?
Netflix is the best way but I have Dish Network and I like it cause I have HBO and I am a big boxing fan and it airs on HBO.
If you can afford to get cable I'd say go with that. I have Comcast and my dad has Charter. They're pretty much the same thing, just available in different areas. You can watch whatever is on tv currently or you can go to On Demand and have a whole other list of shows and movies to watch, which most are free if you already have those channels. If they're not free and you can afford it, you simply order the movie and it gets charged to your bill the following month. Also, if you have a DVR, you can record something if you're gonna miss it. And you can fast forward through the commercials or pause if you need to use the restroom, etc. I have also watched movies and tv shows online. Some episodes you can watch for free just by going to the website that the show aired on like NBC.com or ABC.com. But those sites only have the last several episodes, not the full season or previous seasons. Also online, you can't fast forward through the couple of advertisements they show and sometimes you have to wait a while for the video to "buffer" (load.) I haven't used netflix but I have heard it was good. I guess it all just depends on how much tv you will be watching, how much you can afford to spend or even want to spend, and what you want to do with it. In my opinion, I'd go with Comcast or Charter if you can afford to pay for it and are going to be watching tv a lot.

TV loving people, How to give up cable? We are dropping cable after only having it for 4 months. We got it because we are avid followers of many tv series. However the cost does not seem rational to me ($70 a month). With netflix and other services is there a way of still getting all the important...

Do you think it's "illegal" for any t.v. network to skip commercials? Don't you want to skip them?Dish Network is under fire by CBS, NBC, and FOX for offering auto-hop (a HIGHLY valuable feature to most consumers) which skips commercials. Apparently they are taking Dish Network to court.
