We have the technology we can rebuild him...or maybe not.
If you were in a horrific accident and left fighting for your life, hanging on by a thread, would you be OK with being rebuilt using technology or would you rather just die? They could rebuild you like Robocop, the Six Million Dollar Man or even like Marvel's Cable. You could also end up like Adam Jensen from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but you'll have to eat power bars like a fiend. If you were OK with it, what enhancements would you hope for (besides the obvious super pecker guys)?
Hmm, difficult question. If it didn't go against my religion (CoE Christian), I'd probably go for the Adam Jensen. Enhancements would involve the ability to run, because I love it before I pass out. Maybe even wall climbing or flight. Just for convinience. If I could have some kind of magical power, it would have to be hydromancy. But only if I didn't have to stand in a lake to refuel my watertanks, then I'd be OK.
I eat plenty of chocolate anyway, so power bars wouldn't effect me. As long as they didn't have nuts, fruit or coconut in them, otherwise I'd pick them out and take forever to eat a single bar.
Interesting question and I'd love to see more answers here!
@JohnGreasyGamer that's actually a really good point...I never thought about someone's religious beliefs preventing someone from doing something like this...however, what if it was what God wanted for you.
I remember in Deus Ex: Human Revolution where everybody said prosthetic limbs are "unnatural", and maybe they are - they prolong human life with limbs that aren't your own flesh and blood. But denying these would be to commit suicide, a sin? Not sure
@JohnGreasyGamer so it's like a double-edged sword.
Exactamundo, mightymunch. It's like blood transfusions - drawing blood is a sin, but it prolongs life. Or performing gluttony if you have clinically low metabolism. Maybe even using lethal force to defend yourself. In all, double edged sword ^^
I don't know, I'm torn with the whole what do to, or what not to do to prolong your life...at least in God's eyes. If he didn't want you to live any more, wouldn't he just take you right then and there, and not make these options available to you?
If I didn't have to pay for it, then sure why not. Bio-legs for sure so I could run marathons for a living, wouldn't have to drive since I could probably run fast enough to justify getting rid of a car. Electro-hands that generate static shock and maybe some type of magnet. Not to mention I bet I could interfere with peoples cell phones, wi-fi, and e-books when I walk by. SHAZAAM! Battery Brutus from the Samsung Commercials =-P
@JBrumett do you realize how mad people would be at you if you did interfere with their cellphones, tablets and wi-fi...they would probably try to kill you. They wouldn't care if you were saving the world...just don't keep them from making calls and
Pshaw-- Part of being a bio-mech human you could just reaper chop them into a wall. =-P

This is a topic I am forever mulling over in my curious mind; I'm just as curious to know what everybody else thinks about this? Where will we be as a race in 500 years time? Will we still be here?Will we have achieved colonization of the moon, Mars etc?Will wars still be waged?I'm interested in...

Is technology narrowing our perception of life?I came across this question in some reading I was doing and it made me stop and think. With computers and instant access to the Internet via smart phones and tablets, has the perception of "real life" changed? Instead of going and doing...
