I like Amazon.com because I love books. When I first discovered Amazon they sold only books and it was wonderful to be able to shop for books online.  Now I find a lot of their prices are better than other retailers so I check Amazon first.

Reddit.com because you have personable access to communities for absolutely every topic.  You can customize your experience there by blocking subreddits such as /politics or /atheism if they become annoying, and subscribing to your interests.

Also it's a great place to catch up on news as you can get access to un-aired photos and police scanners etc, a very raw picture of the world.

And since all the topics are so heavily commented upon you really get a lot of conversational insight instead of just a story.

I spend the most time on GameFAQs, on the message boards. But my favorite site, now that I actually think of it... Probably TVTropes. That site is like the nerdy equivalent of doing mushrooms. Clear out the entire afternoon and evening. Once you start, you're not doing anything for a while.

Hubpages, of course.  Those guys are great.  I heard they reward people for talking about them well.

Just kidding.  Actually, I suppose I would have to say Amazon as well.  I buy used books very often, and I get them for very cheap at Amazon.
