   Should Steve Harvey be banned from hosting any more beauty pageants?
   
   He made a terrible mistake and humiliated the winner and second runner up by mixing up the names. He reportedly did not go to all the rehearsals.

   There's no need to "ban" him. After this Miss Universe debacle, I doubt his phone will be ringing off the hook with future hosting offers...

   I don't think he should be "banned". It was a terrible mistake and I was embarrassed just watching it. He also said he will take full responsibility.
   
   Like Keith said, he probably wont be getting as many gigs after that. Lets see how it plays out.

   No I don't think he should be banned for making a mistake.
   As for the lack of attendance in rehearsals that is actually very common. Oftentimes high profile celebrities show up when they can get there and do a quick review before the camera rolls.
   Since it was a live show he probably was not given a cue card in advance detailing the format. Most people who have seen pageants or even shows like "Dancing With The Stars" are familiar with the emcee announcing the "first runner up" name first.
   This leaves the winner feeling completely overwhelmed when they finally realize they are the "last one" standing.
   Steve Harvey's announcement was more like that seen at the conclusion of a boxing match where they announce the winner's name and not the loser's name. My guess is he saw Miss Colombia with the word "first" by it and misspoke by not reading it all out loud.

   It's a beauty pageant, not world news.  So what Mr. Harvey made a mistake.  It's only a flub, it is not a mortal transgression.  Mr. Harvey will do fine.

      Very true! His net worth is $100M. No blood was spilled and the sun rose the next day. It's amazing how this became such a global news story when most of the world was unaware the pageant even took place that night.

   I'm sure that because of the mix-up Miss Columbia will prosper better and be more successful as a result. Steve will prosper even more as well. Comedians have more material to joke about as well. At least Miss Columbia had the chance to wear the crown for a few minutes in the spotlight too.

      No one is going to remember Miss Philippines!
      Miss Colombia will get a ton of interviews, maybe some work acting in commercials poking fun of the incident, along with other monetary opportunities no runner up ever got.

   I feel banning him is excessive, he should be prepared better so he knows what he is doing.  They pick someone new every time and he may not be picked again for anything like this because of the mistake.

   I think Steve Harvey should not be banned from hosting any more beauty pageants. Before the eyes of the whole world, he admitted his "horrible" mistake, to borrow his own words, and took full responsibility about it. Just an unsolicited advise from a nobody like me, let us be more careful in things that we do, especially if it involves high stake names and reputations like the Miss Universe beauty pageant. Sometimes, we seem to take for granted small details because, probably, we have been in the industry for a long time already and have already established a professional excellence on it; but one tiny honest mistake can create a havoc. Steve Harvey should learn a lesson from it, but he should continue to host as long as there are offers for him..

   It brings new life to the pageant.  More people are talking about it now than all past years collectively.  Miss Colombia and Miss Philipines can write books, do the talk show circuit and speak to groups about how to go on with life.
   
   Steve Harvey should host next year.  There will be more people watching to see if there is another way to screw up.
