Wow, narrowing it down to one is pretty tough.  I'll go with the first one that comes to mind:  The Beatles, Revolver.

    Oh too many to name:

Bob Marley and the Wailers - Exodus (reggae I know but still...)
Brian Eno - Before and After Science
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica
    David Bowie - Hunky Dory
    David Bowie - Low
David Byrne & Brian Eno - My Life in the Bush of Ghosts
Iggy and the Stooges - Fun House
The Incredible String Band - The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter
Jethro Tull - Songs from the Wood
Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys
    Led Zeppelin - IV
Miles Davis - In a Silent Way (fusion I know - but still...)
    Nick Drake - Pink Moon
    Pink Floyd - Meddle
The Velvet Underground & Nico - The Velvet Underground & Nico (self-titled)
    Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
Vashti Bunyan - Just Another Diamond Day

    Just to name a few...

    David Bowie, Diamond Dogs.
I go with just about all the stuff here, but especially, amsmoving, I would include, The Incredible String Band - 10000 Layers of the Onion.  Saw them live in 196? at a little pub at Harlow Essex, The Queens Head, brilliant.

I would have to say - The Beatles White Album. It depicts everything that was affected by their music at that time, it reminds me of all the things I learned about history in that time and it reminds me of what I listened to in my childhood and shows me how far I have come in my life when it comes to Musical Maturity.

It's hard to list only one, but if it's only one, it's this one:
    Led Zeppelin IV, Led Zeppelin

. . .. Just one?  How about I give several options for an answer?

Like the guy below said, "The White Album" is a great one.

Don't forget Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon."

    I like the Zeppelin "Physical Graffiti" answer too;

. . .and don't forget about the Debut album by the band "Boston," and the album of the same name.

Few albums stand the test of time as well as Badfinger's classic "Straight Up". With excellent tunes from all four of the band's members, this gem is as fresh today as it was when released in 1971. read more
