    The TV show 60 minutes did a piece on Eminem and his life last night.  One thing that they...

    seemed to focus on is the fact he was able to gain so much acceptance from the rapping community which is primarily made up of blacks.  It seemed pretty racist when I heard it, but it brings up a good question.  What did he do to be so successful and gain so much reputation?

    Eminem started very young, he was 13 or 14. He did have struggles and has been accused of copying other people's styles. But he gained popularity for many reasons: he rapped about his life and experience (suicide, drug abuse, living in and trying to escape poverty), and he also made his own style. He gained a big audience in suburban white kids, you might say being white helped him gain success.

    There are a lot of whites that like rap music too. Somehow its more acceptable to them when its a white performer, hence the success. But you must admit his lyrics are very good. Another thing is his life story seems to be one of giving, not taking like so many others.

    I believe he made with the Big Hip Hop industry was because he was unique and very true to his talent and I believe he was at the right place with the right people . He is very talented despite his upbringing but if you look at most people that succeeded in their own field have excelled  because of the struggle that they experienced in their own personal lives. People must remember the artist Snow from Jamaica, color of skin did not get in his way
