Several years ago, before my mother passed away, we compiled a family cookbook. We interviewed the older generations and asked them what they remembered from their childhood. We were able to come up with a lot of recipes that my mother, grandmother and great grandmother prepared. Everything from the Christmas goose, to surviving on rationed foods during the war. We found a lot of items, like photos of ration coupon books, to decorate the appropriate pages. If the recipe was from the "old country," something indicative of that place would be appropriate. I've also compiled a cookbook of the foods that I prepare and feed my children, it's something that they'll carry with them when they leave home.
