Is it considered lying when we allow our Kids to believe in fictional characters
I don't have children, but I've practically raised a few. I feel that because you don't tell them to believe or not to believe that it's not considered lying. Most parents usually don't introduce their children to Santa, the media does. When that child comes to ask you questions about that character then he or she is doubting the belief of the characters whether it's because a friend said he isn't real or he so happened to hear it. So he/she is searching for the truth and you should give it to them. After their inquiry for the truth, whether you tell them or not is either lying of telling the truth. Unless you are the host of such beliefs.
I don't think of it as lying. The traditions of things like Santa, the tooth fairy, etc. are long established and practiced by most of the world's population. They are harmless fantasies that provide a sense of wonderment to childhood. As long as the fantasy comes to an end at the appropriate time, I see no harm; and, I don't consider it lying.
No its not lying. Think of it as developmental entertainment. Teaching kids to believe in things they can not see opens their minds to other possibilities beyond what they can see, hear, touch and smell.
do not confuse lying ( deliberate manipulation of truth/untruth to achieve a specific end) with a child's imagination, Imagination is essential for a child to develop into a full, well rounded adult, we all went through the same process.

Is it still considered "cheating" in a relationship, if you tell your partner? Some people go out and "cheat" and they tell their spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend, openly they are doing it. Does that make it not cheating if they are not doing it behind their back?

Should a mother allow her 13 yr old child to smoke cigarettes or weed and display a tattoo? Some mothers nowadays just don't want their kids to remain kids. They openly let their children smoke and drink as if it was meant for them to do. Is this a fine line in the desert for you?
