Hi everyone. I'm new to hubpages and just published my first hub. My hubscore started out extremely low...like 27 and after speaking with a friend of mine I was told that was a really low starting score. He said it may have something to do with the number of outbound links.
I only linked to sites that were highly relevant to what I wrote about. None of them are on the same domain. All of them provide useful information that goes hand in hand with what I was writing about.
Basically I thought by providing links to a useful relevant resource would be good for people interested in and reading my hub.
So what I'm asking is if my friend is right. If so, I'll remove the links, but I just figured linking out to reputable resources like I did would be helpful to anyone reading the hub.
Thanks and sorry if this is a stupid question. I looked through the FAQ before I posted.
Thanks to anyone who responds, I appreciate it.
- Nate
Oops. I mean't to say that my hubrank started out really low. My apologies. My hubscore started out right in the middle.
that shouldn't affect your hubber score unless you have numerous links pointing to one site. your score will continue to rise, you haven't been here long enough. if all of your text is original and well written, you should have no worries. read all you can about how HP works and that will help also. read other hubs, leave comments, use the rating system and things will start to look up for you. there is a link at the bottom of the screen, the learning center, that answers a lot of questions.
good luck and welcome.
Thanks a bunch! I am reading through how HP works now. Just wanted to make sure that I didn't start off on the wrong foot.
Thanks again.

your hub looks great. it takes time to learn everything and it will take time for scores to rise, but concentrate on learning and writing, and you'll learn as you go, as we all do!
in regard to links, if you want, you can also use the link capsule if you don't want to use too many outbound links in your text. I try to only use them if I think the link is truly relevant to the content. although we want to give the reader good information, we don't want them to leave our page too quickly!
enjoy!
To be honest, I didn't even think about that as stupid as it sounds. You're right I don't want them leaving too quickly. I'm gonna test out the link capsule. Thanks for your help,
- Nate
Nice first hub, Nate. You might want to consider adding the hubtrail-americas tag to enter the HubTrails project. Also, adding a comment capsule won't hurt your hubscore.
Thanks for the tips! You guys have been really helpful.

"John Mueller said that external links, links on your web site that point to outside web sites (or outbound links) are not a ranking signal. Just to be clear, links are a ranking factor - but you linking out to other sites doesn't help you rank better. He said the content you use for the link...

Earlier I posted that people should go and make links going to other sites that do not belong to you nofollow. Then someone mentioned that if your hubber score is less than 85 then "every link" will be nofollow. But this is not what HubPages says. HubPages says:"If your HubberScore...

Hi Hubbers, I mentioned in the past that we've been working with a company that helps identify SEO issues. Many of the issues they identify come in the form of penalties which they believe hurt the entire site. We've been trying to look at these penalties and come up with solutions that...

If this is not the correct place to ask my questions, please let me know where to go on HubPages, or if I should send an email to the people running HubPages.A few months ago an expert hubber with lots of experience and success for a time offered free critiques of hubs in one of the forums. I asked...

I've been working on creating outbound links for some of my hubs in my second week here at HP. I know the basics of SEO and I know why this is important. I thought it might be nice to share some tips for making the outbound links work for us. I don't think I personally have enough information here...

I was discussing outbound links with Ghost32 the other day.Lissie posted this comment in another thread:At the time, she said this seemed to be true, as sites where she had outbound links were getting good traffic - however, that didn't necessarily mean better earnings. Any update,...
