Alright what the heck is going on?

   Ok, I know next to nothing about soccer (and generally don't want to) so could any of you soccer-types tell me what is up with the refs in this World Cup thing? There was bad call after bad call against the US, England robbed of a goal, and now I'm seeing every bad call in this Japan-Paraguay game going against Japan. Is there some agenda at work here, or do these refs just suck? Everyone goes on and on about how the whole world loves soccer and blah, blah, blah and they can't field any decent refs? Or is there something else at play I'm not aware of?

   One of the referees claimed that they get 97% of the calls correct, and the 3% that they get wrong is what we are seeing. Their argument is that players make mistakes too, so why can't referees?
   
   I disagree with the argument. As an arbitrator to the sport, you are supposed to keep the game fair. 3% is more than enough to ruin the campaign of teams like England and Mexico. Who knows what would happen if the proper calls were made?
   
   I really don't care if it is human error, I only know that with video replay it would settle the situation beyond doubt. With the resources that we have, it simply makes no sense not to use them.
   
   One of the arguments against video replay is that it stops the flow of game. But we all figured out that the players were offside or that the goal was in within 20 seconds of the incident. After the Argentina goal, the Mexican squad swarmed up on the referee and ate up at least a few minutes. If you ask me, the obvious errors ruin the flow of the game more than the video replay.
   
   Another is that it ruins the beauty of the sport. I simply can't see how controversy is beneficial to the sport.
   
   An agenda would make perfect sense. Maybe to allow them to set up and manipulate results - that has to be the only reason I can think of that FIFA would not allow video replay. And that obviously ruins the integrity of the game.
   
   Luckily, the FIFA president is considering video replay, but something tells me he's just going to waste more time with experiments like the official behind the goal... things that aren't nearly as accurate or as useful as video replay.

   This is partly why I don't like soccer.  What the heck is wrong with using technology to look at a replay before making a call? It doesn't take that long to look at a replay. The refs suck. After Team USA was robbed, I think the refs are deliberately favoring certain teams.

   Japan were unlucky to miss the shootout.
   Their team isn't the same since Suzaki was replaced by Honda.
   Sepp Blatter the pres of FIFA has conceeded that purhaps video calls now need to be implemented.
   Usually FIFA just take a backhander.
   A very corrupt tournament.

   Is soccer still on?  I can't wait until it goes back into 4 year hibernation, or whatever the time-frame is.  Go USA for next time.
