   I would like to see a link count feature under my hub stats.  In the interest of space, it should be a single number (Total Links) under hub stats.  But that value should be hyperlinked to a table that includes a breakdown of inbound and outbound links to other hubs and maybe even beyond HubPages.  It'll help track and control the flow of traffic among our hubs in a way that Google Analytics doesn't.

      By knowing which hubs have actual links in them, I can market certain landing pages and include more links from there to the rest of my hubs thus creating a flow of traffic from broad subjects to more specific subjects.  And at a “dead end” customers that have refined their search a few times looking for information are more inclined to click Ads.  I want them to end up at a place where I have nothing left to offer them so they click on my Ads.  For example, two of my biggest landing pages are “The Intel on Intelligence” and “the Intelligence Cycle.”  By seeing at a glance how many links I have to one page I can decide if that page has too many links to it or if I should drive traffic to another hub.  As I write more, I find that there is some overlap so having redundant links becomes inefficient.  By seeing what other hubs link to my hub, I’ll get a better idea of what my consumers are interested in so it can help guide my writing.  And if I see that there are specific people from some site I’ve never messed with before, I can consider becoming more involved in that online community.  You can think of it like an interstate system if you like and I’d like to see which exits go where.

   Use Yahoo Site Explorer: https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/mysites
   
   It will tell you how many links there are to your hubs and where they are coming from.

      Thanks for the link to the yahoo site explorer.  Do you currently use it on HP?   It says that I have to add a meta tag or a file which I think I’d have to get HP to set up under the affiliate settings.  Or is there some little trick that I’m missing?

   Links and traffic are two different things, knowing how many links point to your hubs will tell you nothing about the number of visitors they are driving. You still need some form of stats to figure that out and to understand what they are doing once they land on your hub.

      Absolutely right, Peter.
      
      I'm looking more to keep track of the options that I present to them.  This way I can Direct people to a primary landing page (they can land anywhere else via search engines).  From these primary pages, they can branch out to what they actually want, fine tuning thier interest every step of the way.  Kinda like the trunk of a tree leading to a piece of fruit at the end of a limb.  I'm just trying to map out the orchard so that I can send them to the right trees.
