Long Tail Keywords

   I know what keywords are, yes. And I have a vague notion about long tail keywords.
   
   Basically the non-regular things people type into search engines such as 'How to change the oil in my blue v6 sedan' as opposed to 'Oil Change.'
   
   Just wondering - are there any good tools available or tricks to finding good long tail keywords - or is it just all about taking a blind stab in the dark.
   
   Do I just keep posting hubs I think might be targets of long tail keywords and see what results they get - or is there another way?

   You can use Google's own keyword tool in adsense, or tools like Market Samurai. But they don't include all the long tail phases.
   
   Sometimes you can put in a longtail search in those tools and it will return other similar long tails. Not sure what else to use.

   I have market samurai but it's very slow for intense search stats.

   Wry, I've been using google keyword tool in conjunction with the search function itself.  I set the tool on broad, phrase and exact just for ideas.  Start typing a search in and look at the results it pops up for possible searches.  Sometimes I'll check Bing or something else the same way.
   
   Then I take those thoughts and ideas to the "exact" of the tool and see what's really happening.
   
   Time consuming, and I'm sure I'm missing good ones, but it often works.  When the payouts start coming in I hope to buy something better, but until then I just spend the time and do it the slow way.

      I had it when I was new to the keyword game I guess. And it was a little confusing, plus it often glitched and wouldn't show things like SOC or keep asking for CAPTCHA continuously etc.

         All those bugs have been worked out......I had Keyword Elite but I found that to be a little too much information for what I am doing. The program truly does work like a charm now.

            Hmmm I'd try it again but I just get keyword researched out.
            
            I'm trying to find a niche to write in for a website so I can apply to amazon but I'm currently being too lazy.

                     Just FYI, I have been doing this 2 years, I make enough on my hubs to be satisfied.  The reason I am successful is because of Micro Niche Finder.  I have tested the product, it has brought me success.  If you don't want to use my link, google it.  I'm telling you though, you are missing out.

   I love market samurai.  It takes a little bit to execute searches, but once I narrow down some targets, it performs very well.  One stop shopping is nice!

   I use a variety of methods, but one of my favs is the google wonder wheel. I wrote a hub on it called "Find Long Tail Keywords with Google Wonder Wheel".
   
   The other way I know that is great is using google search assist. Misha's hub on that is fab. ("Google Keyword tool redefined")
   
   Whichever way you find potential long tails though you'll still need to check out their traffic potential and the level of competition.

   Oh, and if you Google.... "Long Tail Keywords"  Micro Niche Finder is number 2 on first page.  That is saying something...and if that weren't enough...this forum post is on the first page of Google for, long tail keywords, if searched for in the last month.  This is amazing, because Google with eventually cache this forum post and quite possibly rank it on the first page of Google for all who search for Long Tail Keywords.  Simply because the use of this keyword phrase, Long Tail Keywords.  Also, 96% of my traffic to my hubs is organic, 4% from my fellow hubbers. But we are also competitors, right?  So I understand the animosity.

      The forum rules are equal for everybody. I have no commercial interest in keyword research or any such software, and I doubt Alternate Poet does either. None of us compete against you. However, the rules for this public forum, which you accept every time you post, are not a private matter.

      I don't think you get it.  Your link looks like it is an affiliate link.   If you just made a straight link, the animosity would be less.
