Hi, just pokin' my nose around and got here...wondering....you're all mentioning just male actors...what about the great women??

Meryl Streep, Susan Serandon, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Hepburn, Bette Davis, Ingrid Bergman...and so on...the gals work real hard too!!

But thats cuz I'm assuming when you say "actors" you mean the generic gender.  I'm also thinking Russell Crowe (mmmmm!)

Absolutely right - There are some great female actresses you've mentioned there and yes they do work just as hard as the boys!

P.S. Russell Crowe - great actor. Also forgot Anthony Hopkins.

Christian Bale. Read about him doing the Machinist and then going straight to Batman Begins. He spends months at a time preparing for his roles, especially when he needs to lose or gain weight. Which is really the case in these two movies.

He was bone skinny for the Machinist and then bulked up big time for Batman Begins.

Others mentioned that I really like

    Crowe
    Pitt
    Depp
    Spacey

There are plenty of actresses, but most of the time they aren't in the types of movies that I watch.

Omg, probably my favorite performance ever in There Will Be Blood.

I knew I was forgetting someone, and that is who it was!

So many how can I pick.... I do TV --- Vincent D'onofrio is one of the greatest character actors --- he is leading as well.  Kyra Segwick is great in everything I've seen her in.  These are two of my personal favorites.

I used to love the early episodes of Criminal Intent, D'onofrio and the psych-thriller writers were a perfect fit. The only trouble with great series is they usually sell some of their substance to reach a larger crowd. I recently started watching a show called "Lie To Me."

The early episodes had a Holmesian brilliance, very sharp. Tim Roth, the protagonist, is also a very good actor. But like CI it started "dumbing down" in the continuing seasons. But the beginning episodes are still worth watching for Mystery/True Crime buffs.

A lot of greats here (I'm a movie nut.) I saw a special on Biography channel about Morgan Freeman. Aside from being an amazing actor, he's lead a really interesting life.

Never thought about what he did before movies. I'll have to check that out.

James Spader, Viggo Mortensen, Kevin Costner, Michael Douglas, Robert Carlyle, Mickey Rourke, Jack Nicholson, Annette Bening, Susan Sarandon. I have high hopes for Robert Pattinson... with some big ifs. And I quite fancy Daniel Craig, Matt Damon, and Angelina Jolie in the right roles.
