How is the United States doing since 2008 doing something about Oil

   What has changed for the better in the oil market for the US.
   Are we now less reliant on foreign oil, and oil in general for fuel.
   
   In 2007 the price of a barrel of oil was well under $60 a barrel and during 2008 prior to the election the price shot up to over $120 a barrel.
   
   The price of regular gasoline went from under three dollar a gallon to over five dollars a gallon.
   
   The only thing that stopped it was the total meltdown of the economy.
   
   The price of a barrel of oil then went down and down to below fifty dollars a barrel. Then the price started back up even though the economy was still stalled.
   
   Now in December 2010 it is up to ninety dollars a barrel, and rising. This is while the economy is still very sick, and umemployment is around ten percent for the country, and almost thirteen percent in CA.
   
   My question is what progress did Congress and President Obama do to reduce our reliance on oil, especially on foreign Middle East oil?
   
   What is the plan for reducing and even replacing oil for fuel in the US?
   
   Oil is both an economic bomb and a national defense bomb, because it could explode either or both of them.
   
   I don't know what the immediate plan is but I didn't see one in the last two years.
   
   Did You? Do you know the Plan? Is there a Plan?
   
   I don't care about what party did what or what they think, I want to know what they did and how effective was it?

   The fact that after thirteen hours there have been no coments on this subject, it is proof that nothing has been done, and worse yet, you don't care.

   It also might be due to the fact that Google would answer the question.  There are initiatives that include local production, bio-deisel, electric cars, ethanol fuel mixes, wind farms and increased efficiency.  If you haven't heard about any of these things I would suggest you aren't paying a lot of attention to ther issue.  Issues in relation to corn-based fuels especially have been all over even the mainstream media.
