for fuck sake people... how can a poem be overly promotional and what about the sonnet with regard to length...

can someone can tell me how to fix a poem to make it longer...

or is this platform no longer viable for poetry...

Yes I'm mad, I'm Irish I fight first and ask questions after and I'm here on my own time trying to fix it especially in the light of the 40+ emails saying...

Your Hub has been identified as a violation of our Terms of Use. If this is the first time you've gotten an email like this, don't worry! You'll have an opportunity to fix it.

Violation: Overly Promotional - Solely or excessively promotes another site(s), especially when Hub links all point to one site.

GUESS what site.... Hubpages for fuck sake....

and yeah f u c k is in totally common use... I resent it being removed... it helps identify when someone is mad... are we descending into this polite morass when out in the real world men women and children are KILLED FOR STANDING TOO CLOSE TO A SUPPOSED MILITARY TARGET....

I had a look at one of your hubs, and I think the problem might be the Amazon capsules you have at the foot of the hub.
New rules state you must write 50 words for every product you advertize.
Just take the Amazon (or ebay if you have them) capsules off.

Thanks IzzyM... have tried that and still cannot get Hub accepted for review since it is too short....  I am removing capsules as i go but this does not solve the problem of short poems...

Everything is changing! It's all madness!
The only thing I can suggest then is that you condense several of your poems into one hub and title it as a collection of poetry?

The poem itself is one thing - writing a supporting text or related text is the route I took - with a few images thrown in for good measure and to increase its visibility also.

It would appear that poetry is valuable as a unique piece and is wanted but the Google bots only 'see' the number and 'type' of the words - and they can weigh the links.

I would say this is a catch22 for HP with no simple answer - the easy way is to remove some adverts and / or add some supporting text.

Thanks RC1 but I do not care about the google bots or whether there is any ad revenue... surely the piece of code rejecting Hubs is owned by Hubpages and they have the ability to modify it... ?

Hey Misha... how are things... yeah they got me... i've cooled off now and am longer as  f u c k i n g  mad as I was... :-)

Things are good, in general - hope yours are good, too smile

Though things here are getting worse by the day, and I am a bit tired of waiting for a bottom to come. Especially considering my serious doubts that the current course of action will lead to bottoming...

Misha... it gets worse... I have a 10 point survival hub that had links to National Rifle Association and 2 other guns sites and now get the message...

This hub contains links to prohibited sites, and cannot be submitted for publication. To learn more about the problem, please click the save unpublished or done editing button and review the warnings at the top of the hub.

I had a poem for opening day of the baseball season it was up for an hour and got a decent number of views then got the axe! It's 10 lines,it flows and its celebrates our national pass time. I've also has 20hubs get shut down because of the new changes!

Hi OG... clearly this system does not work for poems, how can the same rule of thumb be applied on a base measurement of the number of words... whoever dreamed this up is an idiot...

Hi R... well i have poems unpublished and when I remove the stupid amazon and ebay capsules the system will not accept them for reconsideration...

hmm, sorry to hear this! I didn't know of this change. I only have a few poetry hubs, but I included additional text just to give background.

Since they're unpublished, I can't see what you're talking about. Can you combine a couple of poems and add some images? I hope a staff member addresses this, so we all can see if there are changes required to poetry hubs.

None of my poetry has been flagged (yet anyway) - I put in some text as background or whatever and a couple fo suitable images.
These are in my other name    alternate poet    you are welcome to go take a look of course but the poem, a bit of extra text and a couple of images are all there is - and I do not hav Amazon capsules on them which I would expect is more to do with it.

Hi alternate, none of mine have been flagged either, I was just wondering about the poems Drax was referring to. I didn't realize poetry hubs can be too short.

I have read some of yours, they're good. I like them.  There are some very talented poets on HP.
I hope everyone can get things figured out.

I didn't realize a poem had to be a certain length. Is this new?
A few weeks ago, a staff member said they had never given an edict on poetry length. hmm  http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/70209?p … ost1530525

I have not seen anything new stated about poetry length.

I wrote a poem to discuss these issues in a poem like way and of course those fascists at HP HQ have decided not to allow it through.

So, as my art is more important than merchandising, and there were only 15 Amazon hubs accompanying it anyway - I have chosen to reproduce it here in full to let the HP audience decide for themselves.

    Here it is...

I used to like being a writer at HubPages
And in some ways I still do.

That's it.  Eloquent, heartfelt but apparently not quite good enough.

But I'm not giving up.  I have a ten word epic that is under construction - only another eight words to think up.

Now our verse is all spaghetti!
