Although I continue to have traffic to my hubs and was earning a bit of AdSense dollars, suddenly when April came AdSense earnings stopped. Could it be the addition of HubPages ads?

I don't have anything either, not a cent and I took Hubpages off...so that's not it.

Grief Brie.  Nearly 200 decent hubs, been here for a while, and you are not coining it.  This is a tough time.

I'm not big on Amazon income and have had nothing there either. Concerned that my AdSense account will look too inactive and be closed. Then can't have HubPages ads either, which requires an AdSense account.

I've had a horrible Adsense month, but I'm making more with the hubpages ad program than I ever did with Adsense.  I made .95 cents yesterday on Adsense, but April has been a very slow month.

I hardly ever make money off of adsense but I don't have that many hubs or much content for now.

I tend to make a lot more money off of affiliate programs like ClickBank.

I think I will be lucky if I reach pay out since I introduced HP ads..everybody has seen a drop..it will be the first time I've missed it in 8 months. I have seen a rise in earnings during the evening and get the same traffic I did before.
However I am not getting many clicks, I wonder if this is due to the new layout, I don't think the footer ad is getting any exposure because of the comments but I don't know how to disable them. I also have RSS feeds on all because they improve SEO. I am stuck with a dilema of what to choose, any advice?

When you go into edit a hub you can just delete the comment capsule.  I turned the ad program off after about 48 hours, took the comment capsules off of my other two profiles to maximize that footer ad and I'm having a record month with Adsense.  I'm about halfway done taking the comment capsules off my hubs on this profile.  I'll leave a few that get a lot of interaction but I have seen a significant improvement since I did that.  I feel like we have to make the most of the ads that are there since the layout change.  I like that when readers get to the end of my content, there's a nice ad there waiting for them. smile

lol..I thought about it for a long time.  I didn't want to take it away because I enjoy the comments but...it had to be done.  I did it on my other profiles and saw an improvement so I did it on this profile too...with the exception of about 10 hubs that get a lot of conversation.

I implemented this method into most of my hubs now..traffic has gone down yesterday..I had one very popular hub that has lost its search ranking..but clicks have stayed the same, I'm earning a steady $5 a day lol..not many spikes hmm

2besureposted 13 years agoin reply to this

This has worked or me too!  I have disabled comment in hubs that don't get comments anyway.  I did that this month and have already made payout!  It makes the juicy bottom ad more visible, especially for outside people looking not planning to leave a message.

It helps, right?!!  I know..I had a lot of hubs that had just a few comments from other hubbers but they see a lot of traffic so why not have that ad staring them in the face when they get to the bottom!  I miss that one horizontal ad in the hubs that used to be there so this one will have to make it up for it. smile  I'm glad you did it too!  smile

Is the "juicy bottom ad" a HubPages ad, and not AdSense? That's what I'm thinking. So, 2besure, that means you are keeping the HubPages Ads, right? If I am not getting any AdSense revenue anymore, I probably must disable the HubPages Ads right? Because if Google closes my AdSense account, then I can't have any HubPages ads either, like theherbivorehippi points out.

    Ms. Dee,
I have the HP Ad Program turned off at this time.  So far, for April, I'm getting clicks, but they're low-paying.

I posed the following question on another thread, but no one took it seriously.  The Adsense TOC says that Google has a right to disable your Adsense account if you don't "generate sufficient clicks over a 2-month period."  I wasn't getting any Adsense clicks with the HP program turned on, so I turned it off.  Better safe than sorry.

Interesting thing about getting rid of comment capsules.  I think I'll try this for some hubs which don't provoke a lot of interaction from readers.

    1. Ms Dee profile image87
Ms Deeposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Helpful for my decision to know that with HP Ads turned off, you are just getting low-paying clicks.  Hmm, that's true that if for 2-months enough clicks are not generated, Google has the right to disable my Adsense. Thanks for pointing that out!

2besure mentioned this in another thread. So silently I looked at my hubs that would not benefit from a comment or were getting spammy comments and clicked the box do not show this capsule. Yes there is juice at the bottom of every hub. I did pick up some revenue and increased traffic but with all the changes it's really kind of hard to see what's what. Any how if the hub won't benefit from a comment then that capsule is history for me. Thanks 2besure !!!!! I do follow words of wisdom that make $ense lol

Oh and as for HP ads... No invite so I'm good ATM

  17. gracenotes profile image90
    gracenotesposted 13 years ago

Well, despite Panda happening, March was an "OK" month, with some revenue decline, but not too alarming.

April, on the other hand, is shaping up to be pathetic, with both Adsense and Amazon, at least for me.  The hubs which did not lose much SERP position, still are not making very much money.

  18. Mikeydoes profile image43
    Mikeydoesposted 13 years ago

All of my revenue has been coming through the hubpages ad system.

  19. CASE1WORKER profile image62
    CASE1WORKERposted 13 years ago

adsense reduced as is Hp with the panda roll out in the rest of the world. However adsense is enough for a cup of coffee and a sticky bun so not too bad! Last month it was enough for a meal out!
I have disabled the comments box on a few that are getting clicks to see what happens. However they are seasonal hubs so when the season is over the clicks will stop

  20. wychic profile image83
    wychicposted 13 years ago

Hmmm...I really hate the idea of completely disabling comments on anything since a lot of my hubs have had some really great information added by comments, and I've had a lot of people ask me questions and so inspire additional hubs that have done well -- but I hadn't thought about the footer ad. Now I'm off to experiment with some different layouts to see if I can get better visibility without just taking away the comments.

gracenotesposted 13 years agoin reply to this

      Wychic,

I did not hesitate to remove the comments capsule on some of my hubs.  If you really don't like the results, you can always put it back later for new, fresh comments.

Ohmegawd! I thought I was the only one having a bad Adsense month. So relieved to read here that I'm not the only one.  Most of my hubs that were on page 1 or 2 in Google before had disappeared, so low traffic = low Adsense earnings, just a few cents daily and had zero one day.. so far.  I'll try removing the comment capsule and see if I can increase my Adsense earnings.  My HPads earnings are not that great either although consistent, but low traffic = low impressions.  Thanks for sharing everyone.

I do get checks regularly from adsense. These earnings are not from hubpages but are from my personal blog which i had developed a year ago. The Google ads get affected by other links or ads on the same pages as their CPM value decreases. Check the links on your hubs, they should not be vulnerable.
