Anybody Else Having a Crashingly Bad AdSense Day?

AdSense is way down today hereabouts. Traffic seems about average.  But clicks and eCPM...yuck.

Anybody also having a bad AdSense day, so I can feel happy I'm not alone?  Or anybody want to make me frantic by telling me they're doing splendid today?

I'm used to the fluctuations. But I would much rather blame the cosmos than pure random chance or, golly forbid, my own hubs.

        Hi Barry,

Hmmm... you're right...furthermore, there's no AdSense on it!!  That explains a lot...

Sorry for teasing you - this is my fiction profile only.  I put up the story early on to see if I could monetize fiction on the Web.  Since it's not really a very good story, I didn't prove things one way or another.  Then I put up other hubs on this profile accidentally.  (It's also my social rather than business profile.  I keep 'em separate).  Then my mom died and I decided I wanted to move them to a profile in her honor.  Then I decided to keep posting with this one...oh lordy, this is boring even me.

But about AdSense...how's your adsense today?

I actually am starting to see it become a mildly bad day instead of a really horrendous day.  Any improvement or otherwise for y'all?

My Adsense will be just like it is normally usuall adding about 1 cent a day to my account.  In other words it is telling me not to give up my day job !

Maybe it's because you've only got one hub?

I don't know about everyone else, but my traffic and adsense has been the highest today (Friday) than any other day!

I will reach my second hub views milestone by reaching over 10,000 before Sunday ends, so not doing bad!

I don't usually do all that well with ad sense, I don't think I quite have the knack for writing stuff that will attract both people who want to click ads as well as ads that will be worth much. That said this last week or more I have wondered what I have done right (?) because I am seeing some steady pennies being earned yikes
I am about half way to reaching payout (today my second click pushed me over the half way mark by about 6 pence). At this rate I may reach payout by the summer holidays lol (that is if this is going to continue or increase)

Traffic down and adsense down over the last couple of days.  Hangs her head in shame and slinks off back to her jackal's burrow!

Yup thats the real me smile
Thats one of my wedding pics, was married on halloween yikes lol
I decided it was time to re-do my profile with more seriousness, less silliness roll
The cool song "everyone is free, to wear sunscreen" is also gone in preference for back linking stuff tongue

Well don't go too serious, hubbing should be fun! Beautiful new picture though, no wonder you ditched the racoon.  Looks like you had a fun wedding day.

If I need to get to serious I will probably just give up instead! I cannot stand being too serious! I did want to leverage my profile for my new shop tho and I remember reading about people hating cutsie wootsie pictures of furry animals as it somehow indicates a cutsie wootsie writing style that they cannot take with any seriousness. I guess I can keep my cutsie wootsie-ness to a tasteful minimum! lol roll tongue

My Adsense has been atrocious for the last week to ten days.  I did have three clicks one day, but they were worth about 2 pence each!

Easter and spring break contrived to put a dent in the beginning of the month for a lot of folks.   I didn't remember this happening last year, but then Google also is rolling out/has rolled out/will roll out Caffeine.  It's hard to tell how the search engine shuffle is affecting us all.

It's not how much you make it's what you do with it. Invest it wisely. The average is 8 years to double your money in your investments...so just be patient. In 8 years you'll at least be able to have your 2 cents worth.

Okay, that was corny. I'll admit it. smile

Yes, after my earnings were slowly climbing, they're stalling now. I'm not worried. Just keep writing.

Haha, I don't think I've even ever had a GOOD adsense day, yet! tongue  I often wonder how much an average hubber makes per day, but I don't know if people would be willing to tell ...

Its all very relative though really... If I told you what I earn with 305 hubs (10 on another account), that would bear no relevance whatsoever to somebody with 8 hubs... the reason being that my five highest earning hubs, which earn me more than half of my money, were not amongst my first 8. Its the law of averages really, the more hubs you write, the more jackpots you will hit.

I could live comfortably with the earnings from 900 hubs, probably 700 considering the knowledge I have gained in the process, so I am working hard offline on achieving somewhere in the region of that many hubs by the end of 2010.

How much do my first 8 hubs make me? Probably about 5 cents a day max... but I have single hubs which make me in excess of $1 per day, and a particular hub which makes a lot more than that...

I am glad I wasn't the only one!  I had two terrible days.  Yesterday my earnings went back to "normal".  I think Adsense knows when you are stretchin to make that payout! smile

My earnings recovered to average the day I posted this.  The next day was good.  Today is yucky.

I'm pretty sure Google's doing something with Caffeine this quarter (February-ish to date) that's making for some bizarre results.

The last two and a half days have been pretty good for me. The first 6 days of April were bad.... traffic well down... earnings well down...

Thankfully a full recovery (in fact my biggest traffic day ever on Wednesday I think)... but yeah.... I was down to about 7000 page views for a few days... I know that doesn't sound bad.... but 10000-11000 is normal for me now.... so whats that, down about 35%?

I think (well hope) that this month will end a lot stronger than it started for me...

My earnings vary from day to day. Some days I don't make a penny, other days I may make up to $4. Most of the time, I think my average per day is under 25 cents.

Adsense was about half of normal yesterday, and views were also about half, which had me wondering if I said something to offend absolutely everyone, both on HubPages and the Internet in general.  April started out a little better than normal for me, so I hope this doesn't represent a long-term trend.

My adsense revenues are usually o. But the other day I got another penny. Yes! Loosing confidence in fishing related hubs but I have at least another hundred to write. There is so much I can cover. As far as other subjects it is a bit harder to write when ones knowledge is surface only.

With only a single Hub, you are extremely vulnerable to the fluctuations of your web audience.  Plus, you have a poor earning base.

The more Hubs you have, the stronger your potential for earnings, and you offer yourself more stability in earning potential too.

When you add in the fact that your one Hub is fiction, it's not at all surprising that you aren't earning well.

  18. rmcrayne profile image94
    rmcrayneposted 14 years ago

Fiction Teller, I'm kinda assuming you have another account and more hubs, and are not expecting earning based on one hub?

My AdSense has tanked in the last 10 days, and is down over 40% when comparing the last 30 days to the previous 30 days.  I think it is related to Kontera.

Had a few pretty high days at the beginning of the week, but yesterday was pretty gruesome. Haven't checked yet today.

  20. Fiction Teller profile image60
    Fiction Tellerposted 14 years ago

That's right, rmcrayne, you guessed it.  smile I'm sorry if I've confused my fellow hubbers.  I've explained in a few places (including earlier in this thread) that this is my non-monetized account and the one I use for posting.

Relache, I'd love to hear from you and some other steady earners if yesterday on AdSense was average or notably out of the norm - better or worse - for you.

Earnings go up and down, but I get  curious when a statistically weird day happens with no catch-up click dump.  I'm just trying to figure out if it happened only to me or to a few others or to a LOT of others.

So far, except for CMHypno, who described yesterday as gruesome, and Richieb799, it seems yesterday didn't particularly stand out for most folks, but rather was part of a general downward trend due to any number of factors - one of which is probably that it's a holiday week in many parts of the world, another of which is recent search engine changes (Caffeine).

My AdSense earnings yesterday were record-setting.  I just have to go back over my notes to see exactly how much, but I'd pretty sure it's my best single day for May ever in four years, and somewhere in my top ten earning days.

Discussing anything but overall dollar amounts is against Google's TOS.  I choose not to go there.

      Relache,

That's fine, I understand.  You know, I've read the TOS so many times my eyes hurt but I never interpreted that disclosure section to mean all general discussions of trending, without using exact stats.  Hmmm...

  22. mythbuster profile image75

Yep, my adsense earnings have been lower than usual the past few days, too...

I am going to retaliate, however, by ummmm (not much in the way of "retaliation" lol - just tryin' to sound tough here 'cos my pride is hurt)... going and reading more of darkside's, relache's, frogdropping's, knowles' and other experienced hubber's hubs...

Geeze, I just realized that a "good earning spurt" a little while back (for me, anyway) made me a little lazy here *hangshead*
